GENERAL PURPOSE: Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a UI Designer who will be responsible for User Interface (UI) design systems for web-based applications as part of the Digital Marketing team within Legrand AV. This is a remote-friendlyposition with the option of in-office space in Eden Prairie, MN.The UI Designer generates ideas, prototypes, designs, and assets that can be handed off to development or outside agencies which will deliver exceptional UX/UI. You will collaborate cross-functionally to determine design systems, interaction, font usage, color palettes, and other digital graphics, while also aligning to the best practices in UX and UI. The design systems created will be user-centered, brand-aligned, and seek to differentiate Legrand from the market. Your daily scope will include providing designs for review to support business requests and projects, guiding outside agencies on design, and collaborating to deliver the best interface experience on our digital platforms. This role will act as the functional go-between of Design and UX. DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: COLLABORATION Collaborates cross-functionally to develop the best solution for the application's users. Interprets client specifications, identifies change requirements, and articulates timeline expectations clearly. Provides timely updates back to the client. Collaborates with in-house creative team to conceive of, explore, refine, and implement web and interactive design work as assigned. Partners with outside agencies to achieve on-brand and best-in-class designs. Works closely with the digital marketing team to provide design guidance and ensure a consistent, engaging user experience across web and email. Works hand-in-hand with BSA and Scrum team to align designs with business requirements and site functionality. RESEARCH Seeks to understand a design request from the user's perspective. Researches design patterns for best practices; using whitepapers, best-in-class-websites, and accessibility standards to propose elegant solutions. Utilizes Baymard Institute for UX/UI research, site audits and validation of design recommendations. Conducts customer and stakeholder interviews as needed for qualitative feedback on design and experience updates. Works with Creative and Web teams as needed to vet larger changes as feasible prior to proposing to a larger audience or the client. DIGITAL BRAND MANAGEMENT Visually executes on brand, digital, and communication strategies. Builds out graphic identity systems that fit within the Legrand brand & guidelines, working closely with the Creative Director. Develops & manages digital guidelines, providing communication & training. Effectively tracks core asset changes, ensuring file accessibility with design teammates. UI DESIGN Generates ideas, mock-ups, wireframes, design systems, and prototypes for proposed solutions. Capable of designing low to high fidelity interfaces. Seeks to understand the user needs, making proactive use of insights, user research, and analytics to drive design. Designs exceptional UI components and patterns; as well as visual assets (banners, icons, etc.), full web sites, web pages, emails, and design patterns. Designs for a scalable & responsive web, guided by accessibility principles to ensure design can work on multiple levels for all audiences. Communicates needs for functionality of new web components to technical team so requirements for development can be documented and communicated. STAYING UP TO DATE Acts as an antenna for the organization, sharing industry knowledge, and seeks new learning opportunities through external, industry-specific training. Leverages gained knowledge to optimize workflow, design processes, and methodology to improve efficiency and continued success. Exudes passion to learn and share the latest technologies and develop new skills. JOB REQUIREMENTS Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilitie Required: Must have the passion & drive to learn the latest technologies and develop new skills. Has demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and control multiple projects at various stages of work. Must have excellent verbal & written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively across the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus, extract necessary information, and validate understanding of the information. Must have experience in gathering quantitative and qualitative research, from customers and stakeholders, both internal and external Technical: Expert proficiency with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Acrobat DC), Responsive web design, Iterative design, Web-Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Design systems, Usability/user-centered design, Wireframing, and Prototyping. Strong proficiency with Version Control (Abstract), Responsive frameworks (Bootstrap), File management, and Designing components for content system platforms. Working knowledge & experience with OS X operating system, HTML, CSS, Web analytics (Google Analytics), and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Minimum Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in Communication Design, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of Digital Design experience. UX Design certificate preferred. Special Job Requirements: Requires frequent availability and communication during non-standard business hours to communicate with global team members. Must be available for extended, varied work hours based on business need. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required (for the majority of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard.
