About the job:
This Alfa Laval Summer Internship is designed to bring a college student that has completed their second or third year of college to give them experience of working in a technology driven sales company. Based on their performance of the internship, and roles that need to be filled in future years, this intern would be prepared to step into an entry-level role in the energy division.
As part of the intern program, you will:
Assist and support the team in the overall design of spiral and air-cooled heat exchangers per customer order, and any related support structure furnished by Alfa Laval, Inc. The design duties will include calculations to verify the unit design to ASME Codes and customer criteria, associated G/A and manufacturing prints, BOM\'s, and Document Control records, to include the following:
Perform mechanical and structural calculations, prepare design details, produce fabrication drawings and bills of materials.Issue final Drawings/Document Packages to Workshops or clients as instructed.Support team with overall design, prints, bill of material, shop packages, and calculations of project.Attend and participate in internal kick-off meetings with the Contract Order Team.Attend and participate in project meetings.Perform required work to meet project milestones.Validate accuracy of the Design.Respond to questions from Purchasing, Quality, and Production concerning design requirements.Special Projects as assigned.Complies with all company policies and procedures.Conducts themselves in a considerate, professional, cooperative and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors and visitors.
What you know:
This role requires a junior or senior year student enrolled in a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree program with mechanical engineering as a preference, to include the following:
A GPA minimum of 3.0Prior exposure to a manufacturing environment is ideal or experience with heat transfer equipment is a plus.3D CAD design experience - SolidWorks preferredProficient with Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook, Power PointProficient experience with CAD Software - AutoCad, Solidworks, InventorFamiliarity with FEA analysis, Statics, Strength of MaterialsStrong team collaboration and interpersonal communication skills required, to include verbal and written skills.Candidate must be adept at taking direction, work well within cross-functional teams, and be customer focused. Safe work practices, proper ethics, and attention to detail are required.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.Flexibility in work hours based on school schedule.
