Compliance at Brex

The Compliance team helps the company grow responsibly, advocating for Brex and for the tens of thousands of growing businesses we serve. We own the compliance policies for Brex, provide strategic advice and guidance to all Brex teams, protect Brex from financial crime and other compliance risks, and represent the company externally on key regulatory and policy issues. What you’ll do

As a Senior Compliance Manager at Brex, you will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining the marketing compliance program across all facets of Brex’s business, including payments, cards, brands, and other product areas. This role is responsible for ensuring that all marketing activities and materials comply with internal policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. This role also involves overseeing the review process for marketing content, coordinating with various departments, and implementing compliance strategies to mitigate risk and ensure adherence to applicable laws and guidelines. The role will report directly to Brex’s Global Chief Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement an enterprise-wide marketing policy and a formal review and approval process for reviewing marketing content and campaigns.
  • Review and approve marketing materials, including advertisements, promotional content, digital media, and product information, to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including UDAP/UDAAP, and FTC advertising rules.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Marketing, and other departments to obtain necessary approvals and feedback.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies affecting marketing activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of compliance reviews, including documentation and reporting.
  • Develop and update marketing compliance policies and procedures in response to changes in regulations and business needs.
  • Provide training and guidance to marketing teams on compliance requirements, best practices, and internal processes.
  • Work closely with marketing, legal, sales, and other departments to ensure cohesive and compliant marketing strategies.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in regulatory compliance in the banking, financial services or fintech.
  • Proven experience in marketing compliance or a related role, in a regulated industry.
  • 3+ years of experience managing internal stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing regulations, advertising standards, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • A hands-on approach, concise and straightforward style.
  • A love for collaboration, teamwork, and delivering excellence.
  • Must be willing to work in office 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday.

Bonus Points

  • Prior experience managing and/or building teams and implementing workflow tools.
  • Experience building and/or growing a marketing compliance review program from scratch.
  • Experience supporting bank partnerships, audits, and examinations.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $169,416 - $211,770. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
