A Technical Artist is responsible for the technical aspects of art asset development. This entails working closely with Art and Engineering to develop and support the asset pipeline, animation and rigging tools, animation rigs, and real-time effects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with the engineering and design teams to define and develop content
  • Design, manage and maintain the pipeline from artists and designers through to deployment
  • Optimize content through enhancing performance and instructing the artists and designers on asset creation, modeling and texturing best practices
  • Manage the technical animation pipeline including developing Maya tools and plug-ins for rigging and animation, and hooking up animations
  • Develop broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety of technical and artistic tasks
  • Quickly solve issues with cross-functional leads
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Job scope: 3-5+ years of experience working on pipeline and tools for games and film as a Technical Artist developing systems, processes, and workflows.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in game development or film as a Technical Artist or Technical Director
  • 3+ years experience working with Unity, Unreal, or a real-time engine
  • In-depth knowledge of Perforce, git and/or other source control systems
  • Content pipeline development experience, with emphasis on building efficient pipelines and tools for content creation and asset tracking, in AAA games, film, and/or big tech companies
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, artists, and other technical artists
  • Experience with content creation software (DCCs) such as Maya, Houdini, Substance, Photoshop, etc.
  • Experience with game optimization techniques and performance analysis

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $55 to $61 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
