Aon is looking for a Global Head of Colleague Experience (Internal) Communications

Aon is seeking a communications leader and organizational change agent to join our global Marketing and Communications team. As part of an industry-leading global communications team, you lead internal communications strategy and execution across our global firm. You will help inform our colleagues, communicate our values and expectations, change behavior where required and drive performance across our firm.

Your impact as Head of Colleague Experience Communications

Communications plays a critical role in shaping perceptions within Aon and outside our firm about how we help clients make better decisions and deliver positive outcomes for colleagues, clients, and shareholders. Aon’s global Head of Colleague Experience Communications will oversee internal communications for the firm with responsibility for shared service communications across corporate, People Organization, Finance, Legal & Compliance and Aon Business Services among other functions.

This role reports to the firm’s global head of communications, sits on the global communications leadership team and will lead a team of internal communicators. Additionally, this leader will manage the firm’s colleague experience center of excellence to drive alignment, consistency, and excellence across all regional and solution line internal communications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and execute overall communication strategies for a variety of initiatives to engage and inform colleagues; change behavior where required and drive business results.
  • Cultivate trusted partnerships with senior leaders to help influence communication style and effectiveness and generate results for the business.
  • Work with leaders to identify communication objectives, brainstorm creative solutions, and develop and execute communication plans using multiple channels.
  • Engage, motivate, and drive a team of communication professionals.
  • Ensure the planning, development and execution of communications that consider all audiences/levels in the firm; address the unique needs of the business units and geographies; ensure consistency and alignment with Aon’s practices, brand standards, and other initiatives/global messages; support business priorities and objectives; and align to the company’s values and goals.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the unique goals, key roles, and standard practices across the firm to ensure effective communication strategies that drive behavior change.
  • Use a wide range of communication channels (email, webcasts, face-to-face, video, online, print, social media, etc.) to engage and inform all levels of colleagues globally.
  • Lead content development for aligned functional area(s), carrying a significant writing workload, and guiding the work of others who may be assisting.
  • Measure effectiveness of communication activities and use feedback to improve future efforts.
  • Successfully manage and prioritize workload of all team members. Assist in goal setting for team and conduct annual performance analyses according to the organization’s guidelines.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

Experience/Credentials:

  • 12+ years of relevant strategic communication experience with an emphasis on internal or corporate communications; experience driving complex and progressive agendas and global experience preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex communication strategies that drive behavior change.
  • Proven track record of advising, influencing, and partnering with senior leaders on strategic issues.
  • Management experience in a team-oriented workplace preferred.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with proven expertise in using different styles and “voice” to reflect the nature of the individual, audience and message.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts simply and visually.
  • Equally comfortable telling the story in “words” and “numbers.”
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute programs with speed, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Language skills a plus.

Pay Transparency Laws

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $150,000-$200,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
