Job Description:
Aquent's federal consultancy in Washington, DC is looking for a Technical Editor for a long-term role with a Federal Client. This is a full-time W2 contract position at metro accessible client site in DC, only local candidates will be considered.
The candidate will work a hybrid schedule (2x onsite weekly) in the office at client location in Washington DC (L'Enfant Plaza metro stop).
Responsibilities:Ideal candidates will be highly organized and able to manage the technical editing/production process of products within an established production timeline.Estimate the time it will take to complete tasks and schedule/prioritize projects to meet customer requirements.Manage multiple, complex document projects simultaneously.Research, fact check, write, edit, and help customers clear technical materials.Edit manuals, handbooks, management instructions, notices, publications, signs, tags, and other documents for organization, comprehension, accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.Reword information for clarity, conciseness, and (if necessary) specific tasks.Monitor the clearance, approval, and production stages and notify customers about the status of the project via email notifications throughout the stages of the publishing process.Perform document management and tracking tasks for each document.Guide customers on the requirements of Section 508.Edit documents to be consistent with concepts and use of "Plain Writing."Meet with customers and team leader to identify what is needed and work with them throughout the project.Understand the capabilities of publishing software and content management repository.Prepare documents for composition/publishing.Perform, edit and markup/redline using various software depending on what the product is (i.e., Word, Adobe Acrobat (Pdf).Requirements:
5+ years of experience in writing, designing, or developing publishable material about technical topicsMust have an Associates or Bachelors Degree in English; Journalism; Communications Media; Technical Communication; Publishing; or other, related Liberal Arts.Must have U.S. Citizenship.Be able to obtain and maintain a NACI clearance.Provide proof of COVID vaccination required
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $32 - $36/Hourly (W2). Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
