Southwest District Health (SWDH) is recruiting aGrants Officer (Grants Writer)to join the dedicated group of public health professionals in theDivision of District Operations. As aGrants Writerand public health employee, you will serve an active role in improving the health of your community. As part of a small, but mighty team, you will prioritize the development of grants that directly support the mission and strategic priorities of SWDH. This position is central to securing the necessary funding and resources to advance SWDH's initiatives. In addition to grant development, the position entails monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on grant activities in collaboration with program managers. The incumbent will also provide training and technical assistance to staff, ensuring effective implementation and compliance with grant requirements, and perform related tasks as needed. Typical Duties: Candidates must be able to complete the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation and meet all the mandatory qualifications of the position. + Develop grants, including identifying goals, timetables, program needs, and funding. + Monitor grant program progress, analyze data, and prepare reports to ensure compliance with laws and standards. + Review audit reports and collaborate on responses to resolve findings, potentially conducting audits of grant-related processes. + Maintain electronic records and implement funding calendar activities. + Collaborate with program managers to ensure timely and complete reporting. + Provide stakeholders with timely updates on grant requirements, procedures, deadlines, and status. + Identify training needs and provide technical assistance on regulations, rules, and policies. + Develop proposals, operating plans, and procedures to support grant activities. + Advise on program limitations, requirements, and ensure alignment with grant objectives. + Assist in identifying and collecting allowable cash and in-kind match. + Develop corrective actions for compliance issues or negative findings, and act as a liaison with federal, state, and other agencies. Minimum Qualifications: You must possess all the minimum qualifications listed below to qualify for this position. Minimum Qualifications (MQ): + Approximately 1 year of related work experience in the following areas: - Developing grants or contracts including identifying goals and timetables and determining program needs and funding. - Monitoring and evaluating grant or contract activities and expenditures. - Interpreting laws, regulations, and policies, and advising on their requirements. - Evaluating statistical and financial information and developing reports and findings. MQ Specialty : + Valid Driver's License Ideal Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities : + Knowledge of federal, state, and/or community funding sources and mechanisms. + Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgements. + Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Excellent proposal and grant writing skills. + Excellent interpersonal skills. + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. + Excellent time management skills. + Strong record maintenance skills. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Strong database management skills. + Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
