Job Description: Technical Document Writer
Position Profile:
This person filling this role will be responsible for creating technical documentation around software products and services in the healthcare space. They should be comfortable with distilling complex, technical concepts into consumable, concise, and accurate prose. Our team is creating a platform of healthcare software tools aligned with clinical reasoning, and as we look to grow our userbase we need to create a set of marketing and technical documents that convey the products' functionality and how our customers can use them. This person will be tasked with understanding the standards on which these products are built, working with engineers and development teams building out our platform products, and conveying the underlying functionality and utility in a way that's approachable and understandable by a broad community of software engineers.
Job Description:
- Produce market-quality documentation inclusive of feature guides, release notes, and API docs that can help guide customers in using our products.
- Closely partner with engineering teams to understand product roadmaps and new feature developments
- Work with customers to solicit feedback and incorporate that into relevant documentation
- Collaborate with the product team to guide and develop the marketing strategy of our platform to best position our products for success
- Provide technical feedback on new features and pilot them as the first "customer"
- Complete required documentation for quality management system compliance
Critical Requirements / Knowledge / Skills
- Experience designing and producing content for a technical audience, such as Software Engineers, System Administrators, or IT professionals
- Relevant technical background in software industry with a preference for healthcare software
- BS in Instructional Design, Technical Communication, English or 4 years of relevant experience
- Professional Written and Spoken English
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to convey complex subjects in a concise and coherent manner
Preferred Requirements / Knowledge / Skills
- Familiarity with API specifications such as OpenAPI or Swagger
- Experience in quality management system documentation and controls
- Ability to apply an agile user centered design approach to creating documentation
- History of understanding customer problems and the ability to connect those needs to existing product features
- Marketing background preferred
- Familiarity with PaaS and/or SaaS tools and ability to pilot them as an end user
- Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate with cross functional teams and participate in user interviews
- Familiarity with one or more software documentation frameworks
