New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a driving force in realizing this agenda. NYSERDA works with stakeholders that span residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, entrepreneurs, and more, to develop, invest, and foster conditions that:

Attract the private sector capital investment needed to expand New York’s clean energy economy.

Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large scale in New York.

Enable New York’s communities and residents to benefit equitably from energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Job OverviewThe Social Media Director is responsible for growing NYSERDA’s presence online in a thoughtful and strategic manner through the creation of content that is engaging and informative.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategies for increasing NYSERDA’s brand awareness across its social media channels.

Collaborate closely with the Office of the President, Marketing, Communications, Events and Program teams to align on a social media strategy that advances NYSERDA’s vision and mission.

Determine social media Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide analytics to enhance the overall brand awareness of NYSERDA; optimize social media analytics to ensure delivery of effective content creation.

Identify and oversee the process of creating topical social media campaigns to execute throughout the year.

Oversee and collaborate with the Social Media Manager and the development of a content calendar.

Direct the monitoring and responses to feedback across social media platforms.

Establish relationships with social media influencers and key industry officials to expand the reach of NYSERDA programs and initiatives.

Coordinate with partners on alignment of social media content.

Collaborate with the Digital Content Editor to align on messaging for NYSERDA’s website and social media platforms.

Stay current on the latest digital technologies and social media trends that can advance NYSERDA’s presence on social media.

Ability to perform all managerial and supervisory responsibilities with demonstrated experience fostering respect, diversity, equity and inclusion across the workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

Proficient in social media marketing tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Meta/X/LinkedIn Analytics, and Microsoft Office.

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.

10+ years of proven experience in social media/digital marketing, 3 of which should be in a supervisory capacity.

Experience managing social media campaigns.

Demonstrated understanding of social media platforms, content and trends.

Proficiency with HTML, digital media formats and editing tools.

Ability to multitask and meet demanding deadlines.

Strong communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree and 8 years’ experience, with proven experience in social media/digital marketing, 3 of which should be in a supervisory capacity.
