The Director of Advancement Operations and Communications is responsible for managing a comprehensive prospect identification, stewardship, and donor communication program. Working collaboratively with NYBG staff, the Director will ensure that NYBG’s individual and institutional donors at all levels receive appropriate recognition and communication.

As such, the Director is expected to be a collaborative and strategic member of the Institutional Advancement department and the Advancement Operations team. Internally, the Director is a diligent, proactive, well-organized leader and administrator. Externally, they are an enthusiastic advocate for NYBG’s work and mission.This position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer, Associate Vice President for Advancement Operations, and NYBG staff to produce best-in-class donor stewardship outreach and events, and engagement communication materials. This is inclusive of NYBG’s annual impact report.Demonstrate exceptional skill in persuasion through written and presentation communication skills for bespoke proposals and reports.Partner with Marketing on the creation of digital materials such as web pages, web sites, and special solicitations.Partner with the Associate Vice President for Advancement Operations to produce concise, accurate prospect research.As part of the Advancement Operations team, act as a leader for Institutional Advancement in the active and accurate use of relevant constituent relationship management (CRM) systems.Supervise staff, including assessing performance; sharing feedback; curating professional development opportunities; and ensuring the effective creation of communications project work plans and timelines.Qualifications:
5 or more years of fundraising or job-related experience.2 or more years of management experience.Exceptional time management and organizational skills, sharp attention to detail.Ability to plan and balance multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Propriety, thoughtfulness, sound judgment, and discretion.Interest and capacity to work with a multi-generational and diverse identity environment, inclusive of donors, staff, volunteer leaders, consultants, and vendors.Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends for events.Driver’s license.Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Raiser’s Edge or a comparable CRM.Bachelor’s Degree.
