(RBI), the owner of the BURGER KING, TIM HORTONS, FIREHOUSE SUBS and POPEYES brands and one of the largest quick service restaurant companies in the world, is seeking a Marketing & Intellectual Property (IP) lawyer to work at its Restaurant Support Center in Miami, Florida. The attorney will play a key role in the RBI Legal Department’s Marketing team and serve as a critical partner to the Marketing Departments for the BURGER KING, POPEYES, FIREHOUSE SUBS and TIM HORTONS brands in the U.S., including Digital Marketing, and Product Innovation. The attorney reports to the Sr. Counsel, Marketing & IP, U.S. and International, and interacts frequently with the brand marketing departments, communications department, and other attorneys within the Legal Department. The attorney will also work closely with outside counsel and counsel for agencies providing services to the RBI brands.RBI Culture

Together, we can make a difference when committed individuals bring together their resources and their resolve.Essential Duties:Review and approve advertising and promotional materials for all media (e.g., digital, social, television, radio, print) for legal complianceDraft and negotiate various marketing, public relations and promotions-related agreements, including advertising agency agreements, trademark licenses, promotion and sponsorship agreements, media buying agreements, professional services agreements and vendor agreementsProvide counsel and advice on compliance with consumer protection, intellectual property, rights of publicity and privacy laws (e.g., CAN-SPAM Act, TCPA) in connection with advertising and marketing initiatives including advice on food claims and substantiationProvide counsel and advice on legal compliance for promotional activities, including the execution of sweepstakes, contests, and loyalty programsAssist in developing and delivering training programs to employees and agency personnelWork with outside counsel with respect to trademark clearances, including, but not limited to knock out and full searches for U.S. and other jurisdictions around the world and provide clearance opinions to client groupsEnforce the company’s trademark rights by taking action against unauthorized third party usersPerform other general legal duties and functions as may be assigned or required by business needsQualifications & Skills:Juris Doctor of Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school requiredMember in good standing of the Florida Bar or eligible for Authorized In-House Counsel status3-5 years of legal experience; law firm experience requiredJudgment and ability to approach complex legal scenarios in a thoughtful and analytical fashionKnowledge of advertising law, including consumer protection regulations and statutes enforced by the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general preferredTransactional experience with strong drafting and negotiating skillsKnowledge of IP law including trademarks, copyrights, domain names, trade secrets, and patentsAbility to influence key decisionmakers and break down roadblocks to complex projectsHighly resilient, possessing the tenacity to challenge the status quoHighly organized and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting involving multiple projects and competing timelinesRestaurant Brands International US Services LLC (RBI) is an equal opportunity employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.Benefits at all of our global offices are focused on physical, mental and financial wellness.
