Slalom is eager for a qualified Senior Experience Designer to join our XD practice. We\'re looking for a well-rounded, user researcher, visual designer, content strategist, and human-first thinker. The XD team works across multiple disciplines, industries, and accounts, as well as with numerous other Slalom capabilities. Our people need to quickly gain an understanding of clients\' businesses, forge meaningful connections, and show credibility with strong expertise. This role is at the Consultant or Senior Consultant level
Slalom consultants (of all levels) help organizations redefine what\'s possible and give shape to the future.We focus on high-impact projects-meeting our partners where they are and helping them to deliver results.Our teams go beyond the expected, to help clients move confidently through ambiguity and drive transformative outcomes.
This role must be located within a commutable distance to our downtown Chicago office.
What you\'ll do:
Help XD continually define strategic offerings and upskill team membersDevelop a clear understanding of how XD fits within the broader Chicago Business Advisory Services (BAS) operating model, and, organizational solution portfolioBe able to articulate your design process, and develop a variety of creative resources, such as: storyboards, logos and taglines, messaging frameworks, visual learning aids, marketing slick sheets, executive presentations, and research summariesCollaborate with clients and Slalom leaders to design solutions in a variety of environments-considering things like communication mode or mechanism, tool type, user preferences, accessibility, and visual clarity/resolutionHelp to scope creative projects and build effective delivery teamsShow executive presence and polish in guiding clients through XD methodologies, recommendations, and best practicesWork with sales and leadership teams to identify new project opportunities, develop pursuit resources, and craft pitches and presentationsAdopt an agile mindset, and be able to flex between projects, sales pursuits, and practice-building activitiesRegularly showcase (and apply) strategic communication, storytelling, research, and synthesis skills
What you\'ll bring:
5+ years of experience, particularly with a diverse history in visual/presentation design, storytelling, content development, communications, marketing, user research, experience strategy, and/or brand developmentConsulting or agency background (preferred), exposure to leading project teams and pursuitsExcellent communication skills, with the ability to voice design decisions and recommendationsProficiency in design and collaboration tools, such as: Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Microsoft Office, Keynote, Miro, and MuralBreadth of experience along the Experience Design spectrum, with the ability to wear multiple hats and regularly shift focus between:
Visual/graphic design-create high-quality images, branding, marketing collateral, infographics, and learning visualsResearch/ideation-facilitate interactive design workshops, interviews, and focus groups to uncover needs and challenges, aggregate, and move forward with meaningful themes and insightsCommunications/content strategy-produce and iterate on strategic presentations, organizational messaging, marketing resources, web content development, communications plans, and instructional materialsSales pursuits and practice growth
Interest in designing and using applicable emerging technologiesA human-firs mentality, with a passion for learningYour own unique perspective to solving difficult problems and creating meaningful solutions for a diverse pool of people
