The AGI Alexa Information team is seeking a Visual UI Designer to elevate AI experiences through high-quality UI creation. We value attention to detailed aesthetics for flexible and dynamic user interfaces across web and mobile platforms. Our focus is on designing and delivering widely-adopted consumer internet products that make a difference in people's lives.

Key job responsibilities

Visualize experiences in the abstract, build consensus, and drive that vision into concise design deliverables

Foster a customer-focused design culture by sharing best practices and influencing product strategy

Use systems-level design thinking to drive scalable design solutions

Present design work to executive leadership and other stakeholders

You will be a tastemaker and visual storyteller, and advocate for design excellence to create meaningful connections between customers and our products

A day in the life

In this role, you'll design intuitive and engaging user interfaces that bridge the gap between advanced AI technology and everyday users. You will work hands-on with a talented team of designers, applying your understanding of visual systems and best practices. You will collaborate cross-functionally to drive elegant design solutions from early concept through final implementation. You will share ideas and receive feedback in a supportive, inclusive environment, and contribute to the development of innovative AI-driven user experience. Your work will directly impact customers who interact with Alexa through various devices, including Kindle eReaders, Fire Tablets, Echo devices, and more.

About the team

The Amazon AGI team designs and engineers Amazon’s cutting edge AI models and experience that help drive our high-profile consumer electronic experiences, including Kindle eReaders, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Echo, Ring, Blink, Eero, Halo, Kuiper and Zoox. We also power Alexa, a cloud-based intelligent voice assistant, to provide information, answer questions, play music, control your smart home and much more. Alexa is integrated into many of our products and partner products and many thousands of devices work with Alexa.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of design experience

3+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer experience

Knowledge of and proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or Sketch

An online portfolio that demonstrates visual craft, vision storytelling, and design systems thinking, demonstrated evidence of shipping world-class customer experiences

A strong understanding of visual systems and best practices, including layout, color palette, typography, iconography and illustrations.

An understanding of design thinking methodologies to help teams align on user-centered outcomes

A deep commitment to visual craft and product excellence

A bias for action in developing new products from inception to launch

Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs

Preferred Qualifications

2+ years of mass-market consumer web / mobile products experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
