The Senior Manager of Employee Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies and tactics that elevate Verizon’s reputation as an employer of choice. You will serve as the Communications Business Partner to the heads of Compensation and Benefits and partner with HR teams on initiatives related to our total rewards programming.

As an experienced and highly creative strategist, your responsibilities will include creating integrated communications strategies, plans, and assets for transformational programs, emphasizing the employee experience and the employee value proposition. You must be willing to constantly innovate and seek out the best practices and latest trends. More than anything, you must be able to be a trusted, strategic counselor to senior leaders in HR and beyond.

Responsibilities Include:

Support Verizon’s Compensation & Benefits teams and partner with HR senior leaders to translate their priorities into strategic and differentiated communication programs that deliver on Verizon’s priorities and overall strategy.

Provide strategic guidance on messaging and effective communications by helping subject matter experts translate complex information into easy-to-understand, actionable, and compelling content that resonates with employees.

Design innovative and audience-centric ways of delivering engaging content across a mix of internal and external channels (i.e., executive communications, op-eds, videos, articles, Slack, infographics, and events).

Monitor the external landscape to share new, innovative, and interesting ways to engage Verizon employees via communication tactics and platforms.

Leverage data to advance reputational goals across multiple internal and external audiences to showcase how Verizon is an employer of choice.

Identify positive stories and storytellers, empowering employees to share their experiences and preparing executives to tell the Verizon story through powerful and persuasive messaging, research, and data.

Manage multiple projects effectively, including developing timelines, crafting and reviewing content, providing design guidance or support, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, etc.

Partner with colleagues across the Communications organization, particularly business and regional leads, to ensure message alignment and promote greater connectivity across employee experience initiatives.

Measure the success of communications and make suggestions to optimize future communications plans.

Most of all, you share our belief that people are our most important investment. You know the value of a great leader—and how inspiring and empowering it can be to work for one. You’re driven to help your clients be better leaders and believe in everyone’s potential to grow. You’re a great listener — people naturally approach you for help and advice. And you enjoy partnering with your clients to solve complex problems and, in the process, make us better every day.

What we're looking for... You’ll need to have:

Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

Communications experience with an emphasis on employee experience, total rewards, and well-being.

Experience as a Communications Business Partner to C-suite executives in a multi-national, matrixed organization.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

Ability to synthesize business issues into written communications and provide high-level strategic thinking that addresses challenges and celebrates key milestones.

Experience collaborating and interacting with leaders at multiple levels in varying businesses and geographies.

Demonstrated ability to influence, counsel, and guide leaders as a trusted advisor.

Exceptional communication, thought leadership, and presentation skills.

Extreme attention to detail; holds internal and external partners to the same high standards.

Understanding of the complexities of working within a global organization and its impact on deliverables (e.g., global processes, languages, time zones, cultural differences, etc.).

Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, pivot quickly, and respond with urgency.

Sound business judgment and experience “connecting the dots” across programs and topics.

Positive approach and commitment to collaboration with a shared purpose.

Superb critical thinking skills and the ability to take a concept from ideation and strategy to execution autonomously.

Tenacious content creation skills, constant curiosity, and a fascination for the world of technology and its broader societal impact.

Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

A love of learning and trying new things.

An excitement to grow at a fast-paced, Fortune 50 organization.
