Overview
Manage the commodity within the department to ensure that the product is made to company fit, style, and quality standards within a set timeline.
Responsibilities
Create accurate detailed technical packages, following design direction for each style from development through production, that meets brand requirementsAttend and participate in weekly fittings on live model, evaluate fit and analyze issues to establish a plan of action for correctionsDraft, correct and digitize patterns, following silhouette, proportion and design details, as requiredWork together with Technical Design Director to evaluate the fit of each sample, identifying fit problems and recommending appropriate solutionsPerform ongoing evaluation of quality and workmanship to ensure design direction is correctly interpreted and quality standards are consistently metInitiate interlining testing procedure to assess potential quality problems to ensure fabric and garment performance meet company standards and make recommendations for improvement when requiredInspect garments at store level following flip dates to ensure production meets final approval inspection/QC standardsRegularly review base size specifications, grade rules and figure types to ensure size range meets company objectivesTroubleshoot and anticipate possible problems in production, offering appropriate solutionsMaintain and update product information, filing systems, computer systems, product library and technical work areasWrite and communicate detailed comments to vendors after each fittingCommunicate with vendors and agents on a daily basis and provide information in a timely mannerFollow the development and production cycle/timelines to ensure all technical deadlines are achievedSkills and Requirements
Minimum 4-6 years experience in Pattern Making/Technical DesignComputer proficiency with MS Office; Outlook, Excel, Word as well as Gerber, PLM, Web PDM or equivalent, Adobe IllustratorExcellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environmentExcellent English communication skills - verbal and writtenExcellent time management and work ethicsStrong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detailAbility to recognize and quickly react to changing work demandsGoal oriented: ability to stay focused on creating winning resultsAbility to interpret and execute designs from a sketch to a final pattern or specificationStrong knowledge of pattern making, draping, garment construction, grading, and factory productionBasic knowledge of fabric and yarn construction finishes and techniquesBasic knowledge of garment and fabric testing
