About the Role

The Lead CX/UX Designer is responsible for enhancing our customer-facing products and solutions within Wolters Kluwer's Tax and Accounting Division and will be responsible for managing the work of a team of designers, ensuring high quality output and alignment with business strategy. This role works in close collaboration with our DXG Centers of Excellence (CoEs), product management, content, and technology teams, while applying proven UX design practices and principles including leveraging our Product Design System and incorporating customer insights/data to develop optimal solutions that drive competitive advantage. This role requires a creative, energetic, and adaptable problem-solver who can navigate complexity, act as a liaison among cross-functional teams and work quickly with high quality and consistency. The team needs a proactive strategic thinker who is also extremely hands-on in all aspects of UX/UI design.

Required Job Qualifications (minimum):

Experience, Knowledge and Tools
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university (or equivalent) in Interaction Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communication & Multimedia Design/Media Technology, Information Architecture or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Your portfolio should demonstrate a track record of developing useful and intuitive interfaces for complex cloud-based solutions
  • You should be prepared to speak about the processes used to develop your solutions and the specific role that you played in these processes
  • 8 years of UX design experience - ideally within an agile environment with 4+ years on large, enterprise solutions
  • Familiar with principles of Lean Product and Lean UX
  • Have a deep understanding of typography, color, layout and motion design principles
  • Passionate about design and emerging technologies
  • Both a self-starter and team-oriented, with a willingness to teach and learn
  • Open to feedback and have no issues receiving constructive criticism
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to act as a liaison among the UX, product and technology teams to ensure standards of excellence are met and to build trusted relationships
  • Comfortable leading visioning workshops with multidisciplinary teams of business, technology, content, and user experience roles
  • Have experience working in distributed, collaborative teams and working directly with development groups for the implementation of designs
  • Have experience designing solutions for complex online applications - it is essential to be able to present large amounts of complex information in a simple way
  • Ability to utilize and/or contribute to the development of design systems to ensure consistency, efficiency and scalability
  • Knowledge of customer analytics tracking tools and customer research methods; adept at analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data to inform strategy
  • Have a solid grasp of user-centered design, planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility
  • Experience designing intuitive user experiences with a strong emphasis on accessibility, adhering to WCAG compliance and standards
  • Knowledge of agile software development processes and experience with requirements management and complex projects
  • Background and/or education in the professional tax and accounting industry preferred
  • Knowledge and/or experience with emerging technologies (e.g. AI, MR/AR/VR, etc.)
  • Ability to work with limited guidance and make decisions independently is a must


Technical Skills
  • Experience working with design systems and familiar with creating UX patterns
  • Mastered design software such as Figma, Sketch, Miro, or similar design tools
  • Work with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand business goals, user needs, and technical capabilities to inform the design of holistic and integrated solutions
  • Foster collaborative relationships with product teams and technology partners
  • Translate ideas into concepts, user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences for products in the Tax and Accounting division
  • Advocate for the user throughout the product development process, working with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent and excellent user experience that is validated by customers
  • Collaborate with other design leads to define and improve UX processes and standards
  • Mentor and guide designers and help them grow their skills
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages, prioritize tasks, and distribute the work within your team
  • Perform design reviews and provide clear, actionable feedback
