About K-12 Education at DLR Group
Our team of educators, researchers, anthropologists, planners, architects, engineers, building performance experts, and interior designers draw from evidence-based design to aid schools in bridging the gap from old and new to improve all facets of operations, and elevate learning through design. Understanding the rapid pace of technological, social, and cultural change, our K-12 Education Studio works with schools across the country to navigate this change to better serve communities and improve educational experiences and outcomes for students.
Position Summary
As
Senior Interior Designer
you will be working as a part of our integrated design team and will be responsible for collaborating on the design of projects from pre-design and programming through construction administration. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Interiors Leader and Region Leader on project design efforts, client interactions, and presentations. You will mentor staff, fostering a work environment that emphasizes mutual respect, learning, communication, and collaboration. This role will pivot between our various market sectors with an emphasis on identifying and developing the strengths you bring to the overall team. Additional responsibilities may include, but not be limited to marketing and business development activities, participation in interviews, participation in firm research and development projects, and the development of sector tools and marketing materials.
The successful candidate will:
Be a collaborative design team member, providing thought-leadership and expertise throughout all phases of the design process.Set a vision and direction for design concepts and presentations.Set a vision and direction for material palettes, lead internal project reviews, and provide feedback to the team for development.Have a deep understanding of the research underpinning the Evidence Based Design solutions adding value beyond the traditional FF&E support; and work to generate design support tools.Regionally and/or nationally recognized industry expert, continually growing expertise and skill sets.Additional responsibilities as outlined by regional or national leadership.Contribute to the development of Construction Documents and specifications, may provide a QA/QC role.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in interior design or equivalent10 years of commercial design experienceNCIDQ (or equivalent) licenseAbility to work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple officesOutstanding communication and interpersonal skills and be an enthusiastic team playerStrong leadership and team building skillsStrong time management skillsIndustry involvement in relevant Campus market sector organizationsProficiency with Revit, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office SuiteProficiency with SketchUp and/or 3D rendering softwareHas an interest in Healthy Materials and sustainable building design
