Job purpose
At Cavco, we are looking for an experienced Content Director with the drive and skill to help us craft stories, digital experiences and strategies that will move our company, our brands, our people and the affordable housing initiative forward.With a big-picture vision for executing and overseeing content strategy, this person will drive our reach, reputation and revenue through ongoing engagement across the burgeoning affordable home marketplace to create new audiences for our product, while also establishing a compelling internal culture that attracts and retains employees and investors alike.
To be successful, this Content Director should be comfortable in ambiguity, enjoy problem solving and have a clear creative POV. They will establish a long-term vision for communications, partner with company leadership and champion all things content, dropping into any meeting with fresh ideas and the ability to see creative inspiration executed. Comfortable as a leader, this person will also be highly collaborative, detail-oriented and a strong communicator, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to maximize company initiatives and with our Marketing Director on strategic vision, budget tracking and resource allocation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Detail-oriented team leader with the ability to juggle many projects at once, while creating trust-based, lasting relationships with colleagues across many divisions.
- Demonstrate top level project management, bringing complex projects from concept to completion on time and on budget.
- Lead end-to-end content strategies, from research and audits to content planning, creative development, proofreading and editing, while managing the direction of our internal and external content calendar.
- Drive excellence as a player coach who strategizes, write and coaches compelling story-driven narratives that plainly communicate complex ideas and engage diverse audiences, moving them to action. We are a hands-on team, with everyone doing the work needed to bring the project in on time, on budget and ahead of customer expectations.
- Develop and refine processes and best practices that increase the quality and creativity of the work we produce, including proofreading and editing.
- Advocate for and incorporate SEO, accessibility and web writing best practices.
Demonstrates high level of experience in content management systems such as Wordpress, SharePoint, Adobe Experience Manager and Bloomreach to create and manage online content as well as project management systems such as Asana, Monday, etc. - Draft, review and repurpose copy for diverse audiences and a wide range of projects, including internal and external marketing campaigns, complex websites, corporate initiatives and inspiring nonprofit work.
- Develop a thorough understanding of our businesses, building strong, trusting relationships with leaders, designers, developers and marketers from across the company to create attractive, engaging brand and industry-defining messaging.
- Mentor writers and content strategists by sharing your in-depth knowledge, reviewing their work, offering strategic solutions to their challenges and providing constructive support and resources.
- Lead and grow our content team, performing all important management tasks, such as resourcing projects to appropriate team members, recruiting new talent, overseeing professional development and more.
- Evaluate and participate in new business opportunities, recommend services and scope that meet the needs of unique business opportunities and contribute creative concepts to our many business units.
Job Requirements
- At least 10 years' experience conducting content strategies for large, complex websites, preferably in a fast-paced corporate setting.
- At least 5 years' experience managing people.
- An outstanding writer with a strong portfolio showcasing websites, campaigns and creative you've worked on and copy you've written. Please include samples with your application.
- Proficient in web writing best practices, including SEO and accessibility
- Intimate knowledge of AP Style and masterful editing and proofreading skills, with strong feelings about the Oxford comma
- Excellent organization and project management skills and experienced with project SASS such as Asana, Monday, etc.
- Interest in exploring and establishing policies for emerging technologies such as AI
