ABOUT OUR DISTRICT:

The Syracuse City School District is undergoing a new phase of innovation and transformation with the goal of ensuring that all students graduate high school with the skills needed to be ready for college and career. For Syracuse, all means all - including students who fall behind or have been considered "hard to serve" for a host of reasons. The School Board and Syracuse community have charged the Superintendent with improving student achievement, and he is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of school leaders and teachers to partner with him in moving the district toward its goals. The Syracuse City School District represents 34 schools and 4 alternative education programs, serving 19,000+ students Pre-K-12 of whom 77% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 18% are served by the Office of Special Education and 78% are students of color.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Content Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Liaisons are instructional leaders who support teachers in their school by coordinating instructional materials, communication, and other department priorities in collaboration with the content administrator for the content they represent. Each school will have an ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, SEL (middle schools only) Content Liaison. This position works to ensure clear, accurate communication between Content Administrators and teachers in their school, encourages and models high expectations and works to trouble shoot and problem solve around instruction in collaboration with Content Administrators and principals.

Content Liaisons must teach a full class load, be an active member of the PLC Guiding Coalition and support school and district priorities.

DUTIES:
  • Act as the point person for the specific content area in your school.
  • Communicate to teachers in your school and complete specific tasks as requested by the Content Director. This will be5 hours a month of work assigned by your content director.
  • Attend up to 2 hours of monthly meetings or PD as directed by your Content Director.
  • Be active participant on your school's Guiding Coalition, prepare for and lead PLCs, support school-based initiatives as directed by your Principal for up to 5 hours a month.
  • There will be approximately 5 hours of work a week outside of your school day for a total of approximately 10 hours of work a month outside of the school day. (This may be with your Guiding Coalition, Content Director, Principal, or Coach, prepping and planning)
  • Lead PLCs as directed by your Principal.
  • Continue to take PD and be up to date on your content area's latest developments.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • NYS Teacher Certification or certification from another state
  • Preferably tenured teacher
  • 3-5 years teaching experinece


COMPENSATION:

$3,500 stipend AND up to 100 hours of PD.
