Information about the role
This position resides within the office of Museum Experience and Digital Media (MEDM). The Museum Experience and Digital Media office (MEDM) creates and maintains experiences in physical and digital spaces that encourage people to think about how and why the Holocaust happened and the lessons it holds for us today. The office applies an audience-centered approach, best practices in storytelling, and new technologies across platforms to create experiences for a variety of audiences. These include the general public, Museum visitors, students, educators, policy makers, and donors, among others.
The Digital Learning Tools team within MEDM seeks an Operations Manager to supervise a team that manages and implements the large, complex, and interrelated daily operations of the Holocaust Encyclopedia project. The Holocaust Encyclopedia is the Museum's widest reaching digital resource for students, teachers, and the general public. The incumbent will bring an in-depth knowledge of the history of the Holocaust to the management of day-to-day content publishing operations. Serving as a key support for branch and division leadership, the incumbent will serve as supervisor for the Encyclopedia production team.
This is a full-time donated position (non-Federal) paid with the Museum's private funds. Salary is commensurate with experience.
This position is located in Washington, DC and is hybrid telework eligible, within the local commuting area of the Museum worksite.
Duties, and Responsibilities for the role
Supervise and guide the Holocaust Encyclopedia production team.
Lead and manage educational digital content

Duties, and Responsibilities for the role
Supervise and guide the Holocaust Encyclopedia production team.
- Supervise The Encyclopedia production team of five (a content manager and content producers). This includes annual goals, reviews and professional development.
- Guide and facilitate the work streams that ensure rigor in the day-to-day operations of the HE team.
- Provide the team clear reporting on progress and recommendations for addressing obstacles encountered. Compile information for donor reporting.
- Ensure open communications within the team, with subject matter experts, and with partners.
- Recommend and facilitate new processes when warranted.
Lead and manage educational digital content
- Work closely with the Digital Learning Tools Manager to implement the encyclopedia's content plan. The Holocaust Encyclopedia content team creates digital content with an
- audience-centered approach and makes complicated, delicate concepts understandable.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts including historians, archivists, and curators across the Museum to ensure rigor and historical accuracy in all storytelling products.
- Provide support for contract management in a variety of fields that facilitate Holocaust Encyclopedia content production, ranging from scholarly experts, authors, search engine optimization, translation.
- Serve as stakeholder and sponsor on a variety of Museum projects. Identify project opportunities and challenges and remove obstacles.

Minimum Qualifications for the role
- 3+ years supervising a digital content team. This includes preparing and delivering annual goals, performance reviews and all other people management duties.
- 5+ years experience in a variety of digital content publishing workstreams in a museum or similar content and mission driven organization.
- Knowledge of the history of the Holocaust and its relevance today.
- Familiarity with content management systems for website publishing.
- Experience creating digital content with an audience-centered approach making complicated, delicate concepts understandable.
- Ability to communicate and present effectively, in both written and spoken form, at all levels of the organization.
- Experience using tools such as Slack and Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
