JOB SUMMARY
Visit South Padre Island, an organization dedicated to promoting tourism and leisure activities in South Padre Island, Texas, is seeking a skilled Content & Graphic Design Specialist to join our team. As the Content & Graphic Design Specialist, you will be responsible for creating captivating visual content to enhance our marketing campaigns, promotional materials, and online presence. This role offers the opportunity to showcase your creativity while contributing to the growth and success of one of Texas's premier tourist destinations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Design and produce engaging visual content for various marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, banners, and advertisements.
- Create multimedia content, including videos, photos, and infographics, to enhance storytelling and engage audiences across different channels.
- Develop creative concepts and designs that align with the brand identity and messaging of Visit South Padre Island.
- Create high-quality, visually compelling content (including photos, videos, graphics, and animations) that showcases the best of South Padre Island.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm ideas and strategies for promotional campaigns and initiatives.
- Create visually appealing graphics for digital platforms, including social media posts, website banners, email newsletters, and digital advertisements.
- Ensure consistency in design elements across all marketing channels and materials.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in graphic design and incorporate innovative ideas into projects.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Coordinate with external vendors and printers to ensure the quality and timely production of printed materials.
- Assist in photography and videography projects as needed.
- Contribute to the overall success of Visit South Padre Island by providing creative input and support for various marketing initiatives.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
FISCAL BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY
- Responsible for adhering to all City of South Padre Island purchasing policies while performing purchasing tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Requires a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in graphic design, marketing, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years working as a graphic designer, preferably in tourism, hospitality, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, equivalency to be determined by the City.
Licenses or Certifications:
- A valid state driver’s license.
Special Requirements:
- Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects, including print and digital materials.
- Excellent design skills with a keen eye for typography, layout, and color theory.
- Ability to interpret creative briefs and translate concepts into compelling visual solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Knowledge of printing processes and specifications for various print materials.
- Familiarity with photography and videography principles.
