Job Description
Position: LCAT Music Therapist
Facility: Heartsong, 277 Martine Avenue, Suite 230. White Plains, NY 10601
Position: Primary Music Therapist
Reports to: Clinical Director
Population: Children and Adults with Special Needs
Schedule: Saturdays 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, September through June following program year calendar
Qualifications: MT-BC, ATR, NYS LCAT (or eligible for Limited Permit)
Compensation: $40/hour (as employee)

Clinical Sessions:
1. During COVID-19 precautions, therapist will conduct groups for Telehealth and in-person sessions, all based at Heartsong clinic in White Plains, NY.
Conduct clinical groups of no more than 5 clients (in-person) for maximum of 45 minutes per session.
2. Plan, implement and execute the therapeutic activities for each weekly session.
3. Establish and maintain a therapeutic environment that facilitates development toward therapeutic goals through music / art therapy modalities
4. Be thoroughly familiar with participants’ disabilities, behaviors, medications, and any other developmental or functional issues that can impact the therapeutic process.
5. Ensure that all groups have proper supervision.
6. Responsible for immediate reporting of any and all incidents occurring during service time.
7. Responsible for starting and ending groups according to established schedule.
8. Responsible for setting up a safe environment for clients and colleagues.
Parent Relationship:
1. Ensure parents are kept informed of any changes in program that could impact clinical sessions.
2. Discuss with parents/guardian any issues relevant to the clinical work.
3. Conduct a formal, scheduled annual conference with parents/guardians to review goals and objectives.
Volunteers:
1. Direct volunteers during clinical sessions to optimize therapeutic environment.
Field Work Students/Interns:
1. Interview and supervise student(s) and complete proper documentation.
2. Supervise processing of all paperwork to the Heartsong main office.
Documentation:
1. Prepare weekly progress note for each client.
2. Conduct assessments and complete forms as needed for follow through with clinical team.
3. Set goals and objectives for each client.
4. Responsible for timely reporting (within 24 hours) of any and all incidents occurring during service time.
Program:
1. Participate in required administrative, clinical and planning meetings.
2. Responsible for leaving treatment facility in an organized and clean condition.
3. Responsible for all Heartsong equipment.
4. Coordinate with Clinical Director to replace/purchase equipment and supplies for treatment sessions.
