Job Description
KMBC/KCWE TV, the ABC/CW Hearst Television stations in Kansas City, MO has an opening for a Broadcast Technical Director. Broadcast Technical Directors have knowledge of broadcast operations and production activities. This position works with engineering and news to facilitate the production elements involved in live newscasts. You will report to the Engineering Director.

KMBC/KCWE TV, the ABC/CW Hearst Television stations in Kansas City, MO has an opening for a Broadcast Technical Director. Broadcast Technical Directors have knowledge of broadcast operations and production activities. This position works with engineering and news to facilitate the production elements involved in live newscasts. You will report to the Engineering Director.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for clean technical execution of the look of the newscasts
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chief Engineer and Director of Engineering
Experience Requirements
- 1+ years of experience working as a newscast director or technical director at a commercial television station
- Experience operating several types of production broadcast equipment
- Knowledge of Grass Valley Ignite Automation or experience with production control automation systems
- Demonstrate timely decision-making in a live news production environment
- Understanding of newsroom systems, ENPS and video playback systems
Qualification Requirements
- Must have a solid background in the operations of broadcast television systems and equipment
- Can work flexible hours and shifts, including holidays and weekends
- In-person attendance is required
Education
- College Degree preferred but not required
