Job Summary:

As a Communication/Marketing Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and communicating the City of Greeley's brand campaign. You will be tasked with developing strategic communication and marketing plans utilizing both paid and organic strategies, with a focus on supporting tourism, visitorship, small businesses, and community partnerships. Working collaboratively with designated leadership, you will develop, implement, and manage high-level strategic marketing and communication plans utilizing multi-channel communication and engagement practices. These plans will integrate messaging across PR, traditional media, social media, digital, and event channels. As a natural storyteller, you will celebrate and share the highlights of the City of Greeley, elevating the perception and image of our community to support the local economy.

Your role as a brand champion will involve closely working with cross-functional teams and leading efforts to draw external audiences and visitors in. You will shape and amplify Greeley's voice and identity, ensuring that communication and marketing efforts align with the municipality's goals and values. This position requires strong strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of effective marketing and storytelling techniques.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing or a related field from an accredited college or university.

* A minimum of three (3) years' experience in conceptualizing, implementing, and managing high-level strategic marketing plans.

* A minimum of three (3) years' experience overseeing the brand and image campaign interactions with the public by implementing social media content strategies and actively monitoring campaigns.

OR

* Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Has a general understanding of working with an advertising/PR agency and grasps the fundamental concepts of promoting local government and community.

* Proficient at writing, organizing content and data, and reporting outcomes.

* Experience in setting strategy while also navigating relationships with different stakeholders across the organization and collaborating with colleagues.

* Ability to utilize components of project management to successfully schedule, lead and facilitate communication.

* Experience assessing, monitoring and measuring strategic communication and marketing initiatives.

* Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong customer service skills and diplomacy.

* Experience with Microsoft Office, Mail Chimp, and WordPress.

* Experience with current social media applications and online platforms for communication and engagement.

* Experience with digital cameras.

Essential Functions:

Strategic Marketing & Communication Development:

* Conceptualizes, designs, implements and manages high-level strategic marketing plans that meet the marketing, advertising, public relations, and other paid media goals.

* Builds and nurtures an engaged community around our brand through crafted resident, visitor, and business campaigns and experiences that foster strong connections with our audience.

* Serves as an embedded partner in the daily operations of the city's brand campaign and visitorship activities to facilitate the planning, process design, resource management (including budget), implementation, analysis, and reporting.[KG1]

* Develop and implement comprehensive brand strategies aligned with the city's mission and vision. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure brand consistency and resonance across all touchpoints.

* Develop citywide strategic marketing plans to support tourism and community experience initiatives.

* Work with departments and project management teams to devise marketing strategies that resonate with residents and visitors about Greeley.

* Collaborate with, advise, and provide recommendations and operational support to facilitate the planning, execution, and resources (including team members and applicable budgets), conduct reporting and analysis on project outcomes, and coordinate stakeholder involvement.

Copywriting and Editing:

* Create and edit professional material and content for items including news releases; commercial and radio scripts; advertising/promotional copy; ghostwriting op-ed and industry publication articles; authoring annual, technical, and program reports; writing and designing e-newsletters, blog posts, social media content; and website updates; writing, designing, and creating presentations and hand out materials; and editing/revising written materials created by city officials and staff.

Strategic Operational Support:

* Foster connections with local businesses, educational institutions, influencers, and ambassadors that align with our values.

* Create initiatives that celebrate and support local heroes who embody the city's brand.

* Champion the brand and efforts within the city and convey our commitment to economic growth, tourism, visitorship, and city pride through the brand's messaging and initiatives.

* Author communication and provide direction and context for the communication, promotion, public education, and public relations aspects of work related to city brand.

* Manage project processes, including printing needs, coordinating the dissemination of materials, ordering promotional items, and working with graphic design and video teams in the production of marketing materials.

* Create and gather materials for meetings and public events that may include displays and signage. This position may also assist with photography or videography projects related to communication projects.

* Identify stories and work with PR specialist to pitch stories regarding brand, etc. to regional and national media.

Social Media:

* Oversees the brand and image campaign interactions with public by implementing social media content strategies and actively monitoring campaigns.

* Monitors and analyzes social media content and interaction in conformance with all communication guidelines and brand standards.

* Develops social influencer and media relations to amplify the brand through organic and paid efforts.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

* Be proficient at creating and editing professional content utilizing AP style and exceptional grammar.

* Be comfortable operating autonomously and exhibit the ability to draw connections between current situations and long-term impact to determine necessary or proactive action.

* Effectively conduct industry research, knowledge-gathering and expand professional expertise to understand current and future goals and objectives of identified city brand, visitorship experiences, and tourism priorities.

* Be skilled at "listening for understanding" and easily able to check for clarity to guide relevant communication.

* Be comfortable with face-to-face outreach at public meetings and events.

* Follow communication, marketing, and public relations industry best practices.

* Be comfortable operating autonomously and exhibit the ability to draw connections between current situations and long-term impact to determine necessary or proactive action.

* Easily adapt to the changing needs and circumstances of communications and marketing work

* Bilingual/Spanish-speaking skills are preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

* Communication skills enough to hear and convey information to/from the public via telephone and in person.

* Vision enough to interpret computer screens and documents to assist the public and complete work assignments; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

* Manual dexterity enough to accurately input, retrieve, and verify work assignments; employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

* Duties may occasionally include light to moderate physical effort that includes stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; frequent standing or walking; frequently lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds; maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks and frequently working with light objects and light hand tools.

* Extensive work is performed on a computer; work is primarily performed at a desk.
