Our approach to design is different because we start with conversations about how sustainability and smart energy management enhances the human experience, and can positively impact a building owner's bottom line. We collect, organize, visualize, and analyze building performance data, enabling our clients to take action to optimize air quality, occupant comfort, and energy use. The result is actionable intelligence to optimize energy using systems, enhance indoor environmental quality, and reduce operating costs.

Position Summary

In this position, you will be the Project Manager for multiple high-profile, national and international Commissioning projects across DLR Group's core sectors including Workplace, Federal, Education, Hospitality, Healthcare, Justice & Civic, Mixed-Use and more.

As a Commissioning Authority, you will frequently travel to job sites to perform thorough design and construction reviews, functional testing, and building performance diagnostics. Expect to be traveling approximately 30-50% of your time in a typical month. In this role there is potential for rapid growth opportunities as we expand our Smart Buildings team.

What you will do:

Act as a project manager and client leader for a variety of new construction commissioning projects Work on retro-commissioning projects, measurement and verification projects, and energy audit projects Work on a variety of monitoring-based commissioning projects where the use of a Fault Detection & Diagnostics tool (SkySpark) provides systems performance data to augment the traditional commissioning process. Work with Integrated Design teams of Architects, Engineers and specialty designers, providing commissioning expertise on projects across DLR Group's core sectors Manage project execution and client expectations to adhere to budget, schedule, and scope Develop communicate, and update project plans including information such as project objectives, technical specifications, schedules, and staffing Conduct Commissioning site visits and travel as needed Submit project deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards Provide training and mentorship to staff and emerging engineers Perform a QA/QC review of the project deliverables Work with marketing and business development teams to develop scope and fee for new project opportunities Run projects independently with regular check-ins with a broader Commissioning team Have strong technical skills and a solid understanding of engineering concepts and advanced problem-solving skills expected of a bachelor level engineering degree or above Have familiarity with use of portable monitoring/metering equipment Be detail oriented, organized, and able to execute a quality commissioning process Possess a sense of self-direction and the ability to manage your own time and aid others to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget Review equipment submittals and shop drawings for overall compliance with the design intent and owner's requirements. Perform field observations of equipment and systems to document progress and attend selected jobsite meetings Develop pre-functional checklists and functional performance test procedures based upon industry standards and project design requirements. Perform functional testing of building MEP systems to determine that equipment is functioning in accordance with the design documents. Required Qualifications:

5+ years of hands-on experience in commissioning building systems Strong knowledge of the building design and construction industry, with expertise in the commissioning process for new construction, major renovations, and existing buildings In-depth understanding of energy use, indoor environmental quality, operations, and maintenance in building commissioning Technical expertise in HVAC and building automation systems, with the ability to evaluate and test system performance Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong organizational and computer skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred Professional licensure and commissioning certification from a recognized body (ACG, BCA, or ASHRAE) preferred Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, SkySpark as a Connected-Commissioning/Monitoring-based Commissioning tool is a plus
