As we continue to evolve, we're looking for a Communications Manager who can blend creativity with strategic leadership, ready to help redefine mining for the next generation.
Candidate Attributes:
The NVMA's Communication Manager will bring a unique blend of creativity and leadership. The successful candidate must be both a storyteller and a strategist, with the ability to lead impactful communication programs that attract talent to the mining sector. The ability in to inspire through words, visuals, and ideas that resonate, especially with younger audiences and diverse communities is a necessity. Industry knowledge is not required but the ability to tell compelling stories, build relationships, and lead with vision and adaptability is.
Key Responsibilities: • Develop and execute a flexible communications strategy that aligns with the NVMA's mission to engage new audiences, support members, and highlight mining's role in today's
world. • Manage external communication channels, including social media platforms, association websites, and media relations. • Write and deliver regular member newsletters. • Lead creative storytelling across traditional and digital platforms to communicate the dynamic, sustainable, and innovative aspects of the mining industry. • Collaborate with association staff and members to understand recruitment needs and craft messages to attract top talent. • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including media, community organizations, and educational institutions. • Produce diverse communications materials-from press releases and speeches to social media campaigns-that align with the mission and appeal to a broad audience. • Monitor trends and emerging policies that impact the mining industry, keeping the communication strategies relevant and proactive. • Track and report communications impact, using insights to refine strategies and demonstrate success to association leadership.
Experience: • Proven experience in communications, PR, or a related field, with a strong portfolio that showcases creative and strategic abilities. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a natural ability to simplify complex information into engaging narratives. • Experience with crisis communication. • Organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines. • Experience with digital content creation, social media engagement, or campaign management is a plus. • Ability to adapt quickly, work independently, and manage multiple projects within a fast-paced, evolving environment. • Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently. • Experience working collaboratively with outside vendors such as photographers, videographers, event planners, etc. • Ability to work collaboratively throughout the organization, including with staff and board members. • Ability to work a flexible schedule in response to the role's needs, including travel for work assignments as needed.
