Position Highlights:

Stewart is seeking a design-focused creative for the Urban Designer position on our Community Planning team in our downtown Raleigh office. You will work in a highly collaborative process with multiple disciplines on a variety of projects including city comprehensive plans, downtown plans, parks and greenway master plans, conceptual site plans and development codes. You will be encouraged to think creatively and develop innovative project deliverables that illustrate placemaking opportunities, public space and transportation improvements, urban development form and best practices in conservation and landscape design. You will have the opportunity to research and employ best practices, conduct site analysis and grow your abilities in story-telling to create compelling, highly graphic plans and studies. Position Responsibilities:Develop and implement urban design strategies, planning documents and regulatory codes.Conduct site analysis and research to inform design decisions.Collaborate with community planners, landscape architects, arborists, engineers and surveyors.Prepare maps, designs, drawings and presentations for project proposals and interviews.Assist with inventory, analysis and urban design recommendations for projects under supervision of the project manager.Prepare for, participate in and facilitate community engagement activities.Present design ideas to clients, public officials, and community members.Coordinate and support production of graphics, reports, website and other digital and print media.Research best practices in urban design, public spaces and park design.Prepare reports and documentation for projects at a variety of scales (e.g. site, area, neighborhood, city, county, region).Coordinate and effectively communicate with staff in other disciplines and clients.Advocate for sustainable and inclusive urban design practices.Assist in compiling all components required for jurisdictional review, approval processes, and submitting documents to the appropriate agencies.Design and prepare project reports for Community Planning projects using Adobe InDesign or other relevant software.Design and prepare project branding and advertisement materials for Community Planning projects using Adobe Illustrator or other relevant software.Position Qualifications:

0-5 years of work experience in urban design, landscape architecture, community planning or related fieldWorking knowledge of ArcGIS Pro softwareYou must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for an employment-based visa.Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to work in a professional, climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise levels and exposure to lots of light, both natural and artificial. Workstations are in an open space layout with frequent collaboration and interactions from co-workers throughout the day. Within the office you are willing and able to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity peripherals, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Additional requirements include providing on-site technical assistance by occasionally accessing client or construction sites with varying terrain.
