Job Summary:

The Coordinator of Communications and Technology should be a graphics and media specialist with a strong understanding of marketing and PR. This role is responsible for oversight of the church's internal and external communications, public relations, and messaging including by not limited to the church website, signage, printed materials, direct mail, email, social media, web postings, apps, podcasts, and other platforms as they are acquired. This role is also responsible for the technological aspects of the parish with a focus on communications and development applications. Someone in this role must have a heart for the church, a love of Jesus and a desire to serve the people and ministries of the church.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business Communications or similar field
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Marketing and Communications or advanced studies
  • A background in theology or pastoral ministry will be preferred but not required
  • Exhibit a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit and active participation in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20)


Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in graphics, web design, print media, content marketing, video production, copywriting, social media marketing
  • Strong marketing and design project management experience
  • Phenomenal written and verbal communication skills required
  • Interpersonal skills that are welcoming and relationship-focused
  • Proven ability to be a player as well as a thoughtful, effective coach
  • Understanding of user perspectives and ability to suggest effective solutions
  • Experience with planning, organization, and deployment
  • Google Office and Microsoft software Windows 10 and Office 2010 and more recent and
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to understand business functions and requirements.
  • Demonstrate a consultative approach to working with ministry partners
  • Demonstrate a capacity for continuous improvement and innovation in church communication
  • As a lifelong learner, this person will effectively engage in ongoing education, networking, and research to remain relevant and informed with church communication trends and best practices
  • Exhibit a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations
  • Active church membership-supported with consistent attendance and participation in the life of the church


Duties and Responsibilities:

"Embrace the mission and vision of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay and work in accordance with Catholic Social Teachings and the moral and ethical values of the Catholic Church."
  • Employees are expected to attend retreats, seminars and small group discussions where faith is discussed.


Communications (oversee or perform)
  • Actively build member and community relationships that strengthen bonds with the church communities
  • In conjunction with the Communications Team, coordinate all parishioner communications (newsletter, bulletin, social media, pulpit announcements, etc.)
  • Serve as the church's brand manager, responsible for safeguarding the church's brand and overall brand perception in all marketing and communication efforts
  • In conjunction with parish volunteer experts, develop and execute the church's marketing and communications plan to stimulate church growth while maximizing the impact of the gospel locally and globally
  • Interface with the pastor/s on a daily basis to maintain constant awareness of mission, message and action at the staff and member levels, connecting their ministry to the staff and members
  • Maintain effective systems of quality control for all marketing and communication material the church produces
  • Utilizing our established Communication Process, delegate, schedule, and communicate progress updates for all marketing and communication efforts with impacted stakeholders
  • Maintains parishes online branding, marketing and messaging (website, and social media) along with other team members.
  • Effectively collaborate and manage freelance partnerships, and volunteer content creators and content managers in a manner that supports our missions and aligns with our values and operating practices
  • Work in partnership with parish accountant, office manager, and diocesan personnel to maintain good staff communications and human resource support.
  • Establishes and maintains community connections with local businesses, non-profits, social services - ensuring that both parishes are visible to community in pastoral and social services
  • Serve as the lead staff liaison to the pastor, leadership and Mission Pillar Teams for coordination and communication.

Stewardship
  • Creates and maintains parish ministry marketing brochures, ministry volunteerism, etc.

Physical/Visual/Mental Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms; and talk.
  • Requires use of office equipment including telephone, computer, fax, copy machine.
  • Close vision required for computer work.
  • May view a computer screen for long periods.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.


Typical Working Conditions:

Person in this position will work in an inside office environment at the parish; would work alone at times and frequently with a group; normal hours would be 40 hours per week with the expectation of no less than 32 in-person office hours between 8:00 a.m-5:00 p.m. with an hour for lunch Monday-Thursday, 8 hours of remote work or night/weekend hours when members are present. Fast paced environment with daily/weekly deadlines.

Nature of Supervision Received:

Receives minimal supervision, but interacts regularly with the pastor, Director of Pastoral Administration and the Director of Business Administration and Technology.

Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:

Considerable judgment and independent decision making is required regarding compliance to policies. Decisions are moderately complex. Requires ability to thoroughly investigate and analyze problems and recommend the proper course of action. Requires ability to follow through on all projects. Prioritization and organization is necessary in order to meet deadlines. Judgment and tact must be used in communication of policies and procedures.

Financial Responsibility:

Responsible for effective use of budgeted resources.
