JOB DESCRIPTION
- FULL TIME
The School of Communication & Public Affairs in the College of Arts & Cultural Studies is accepting applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication to begin Spring or Fall 2024. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Teach four communication courses per semester, including two sections of Oral Communication (public speaking) per term. Additional courses are dependent on the candidate's experience as they intersect the school's needs. The undergrad teaching load is 4-4.
  • Teach at the undergraduate level in both face-to-face and virtual modalities but could eventually include graduate courses.
  • Advise students majoring and minoring in communication.
  • Connect students with and review internship opportunities.
  • Engage in scholarly research, presentations, and publications and in professional development activities. ORU is a teaching university with an active research agenda encouraged.
  • Be involved in university activities such as faculty meetings, committee meetings, retreats, and chapel services.
  • Additional skills and experience in debate coaching, event planning, grant writing, nonprofit management, and philanthropy may elevate one's candidacy.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Ph.D. in Communication is preferred, though candidates with and Masters degree and at least 18 hours of Masters-level course work in Communication, and ABD candidates will be considered.
  • Demonstrate integrated faith in the classroom, the church, and community.
  • Have a demonstrated history of or potential for successful and excellent teaching and student engagement.
