Artemis is seeking a full-time Lead Senior Strategic Communication Strategist with extensive experience in communication planning and support services for federal customers. The Communication Strategist will support the Program Manager in overseeing a robust, highly visible public affairs portfolio with numerous moving parts. A successful candidate will have a keen eye for hot-button issues and good news stories that will elevate and protect the brand of the government and possesses strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience developing relationships with government counterparts. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations of a team of communications and digital media professionals and serves as an alternate Program Manager in the event the Program Manager is unavailable.
The Lead Senior Strategic Communication Strategist role requires a self-starter, proactive problem solver and action-oriented team player. This position needs an individual that is committed to providing superior service, poised under pressure and has a positive and flexible attitude.
This is a contingent hire position. A signed letter of commitment is required.
This is an on-site position.
The expected compensation at the time of requisition creation is between $125,000-$140,000. The position offers medical, dental and vision coverage. Additional benefits such as 401K, disability insurance and PTO are provided as well.
- Lead daily delivery of a multifaceted communications and public affairs team.
- Provide counsel and guidance to Program Manager.
- Resolve issues related to contract performance.
- Generate compelling, forward-moving creative and public affairs materials.
- Provide regular reporting to government clients to demonstrate the status of the project, key tasks and activities.
- Serve as secondary point of contact, responding to requests for support and serving as a backstop to the Program Manager.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, high-value deliverables across the contract.
- Implement measurement strategy to gauge the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-informed decisions on future efforts.
- Manage delivery of daily briefs and keep customer apprised of potential red flags.
- Develop a dashboard to provide the government with a common operating picture that informs communication strategy to stakeholders.
- Oversee social media campaigns.
- Respond to media queries with minimal supervision and maximum tact.
- 15 years of communications experience with 5 years of continuous experience at the strategic level.
- Bachelors degree in communications, public relations, management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience successfully leading communications efforts for federal clients.
- Demonstrated experience leading workflow of multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with media monitoring and social listening software, including expert knowledge synthesizing metrics into actionable insights.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or other certification preferred.
- Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach to marketing trends and technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.
- Comfort with supporting complex client relationships.
- Active Secret government clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and time management skills.
