General Position Summary:

Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity’s Design & Production Coordinator works closely with the marketing and communications team and other related teams to design and produce effective communications materials that adhere to Habitat for Humanity and ReStore brand standards. Under the guidance of the Director of Communications and in collaboration with other members of the marketing and communications team, the Design & Production Coordinator’s primary activities will include graphic design, production management, web design, and brand management to help achieve organizational goals.


Core Responsibilities:

Regular and predictable attendance is a required function of this position.

  1. Graphic design:
  • Create and assist with digital and print materials in support of marketing and communications goals and in line with Habitat for Humanity brand standards
  • Create and/or acquire appropriate branding elements, including typefaces, icons, illustrations, and stock images
  • Create and manage templates and templated materials as needed

2. Production management:

  • Work with external vendors to secure estimates and bids
  • Design and prepare materials to appropriate specifications
  • Manage production from start to finish
  • Manage project timelines to ensure timely delivery of high-quality finished products
  • Ensure that Habitat resources are used effectively and appropriately

3. Advertising content creation:

  • Contribute to creative brainstorming for effective advertising strategies and tactics
  • Help develop creative advertising concepts
  • Create advertising designs and design elements

4. Social and digital content creation:

  • Collaborate with other marketing and communications team members to determine appropriate social media strategies and tactics
  • Create designs and design elements for publication on social media
  • Occasionally assist with publication on social media

5. Marketing and advertising support:

  • Support other marketing and communications team members through team initiatives, events, and special projects
  • Provide creative insight, constructive criticism, and feedback as needed
Requirements:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field OR equivalent professional experience
  • Graphic design experience in a professional setting (e.g. entry-level design role, freelance work, or internship experience)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite software
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality designs that meet project specifications
  • Ability to design according to and within brand standards


Strongly preferred

  • One or more years as a full-time employee in a professional design role (not freelance or internship)
  • Demonstrated illustration abilities
  • Experience with retail marketing and advertising projects
  • Experience managing production through outside print shops and other vendors
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and/or WordPress design and content management
