HOME DCHS GIRL'S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCER QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Successful applicants shall possess the following:

1. Minimum of a high school diploma.
2. Previous sports announcing experience preferred.
3. Strong and pleasant voice with attention to detail.
4. Expressive but clear and controlled vocal skills.
5. Varied vocal delivery based on game situation.
6. Advanced knowledge of the sports.
7. Knowledge and understanding of rules and statistics of designated sport.
8. Ability to think and work under time-sensitive situations.
9. Must be able to work when needed as events are scheduled.
10. Ability to work successfully with others.
11. Ability to be on time.
12. Be able to pass a volunteer backround check
13. Be able to be professional, alert, courteous, and patient at all times.

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sports announcers describe the action and provide colorful commentary for sporting events. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Public Address Announcer is responsible for game announcing for Doddridge County Schools sporting events.
2. Read pre-game announcements, introduction of the National Anthem and player introductions.
3. Read in-game announcements of game events, and scripted announcements during stoppages of play
4. Read halftime announcements including game statistics and promotional events;
5. Read post-game announcements as directed; As directed by the designated game manager, provides announcements to crowd during the game to ensure a healthy, competitive atmosphere exists for all home athletic contests
6. Ability to quickly summarize what's happening during the game.
7. Ability to think and work under time-sensitive situations.
8. Knowledge of the sport, the teams that are playing and their players
9. Maintain collaborative working relationships.
10. Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the WVSSAC, Doddridge County Schools and its employees, and the rules of the affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future.
11. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
12. Other duties as directed.

TERM: All DCHS Home Girls Basketball games for the 2024-2025 Basketball Season only.
