SUMMARY/SCOPE:

The College of Health Professionsinvites applications for an adjunct position in the Communication Sciences andDisorders undergraduate program.Applicants should have amaster's degree in speech-language pathology.ASHA CCC-SLP certificationand current Texas licensure are required.Candidates should haveresearch, clinical, and/or teaching experience in the fields of pediatriclanguage disorders, and articulation/phonological disorders, as well as anunderstanding of implementing speech-language services in the schoolsetting.Responsibilities includeundergraduate class instruction and clinical supervision during studentpracticum.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

This adjunct professor will teachthe clinical internship course offered in the Communication Sciences andDisorders undergraduate department.

Teaches subjects within prescribedcurriculum.

Supervises students during clinicalpracticum.

Ensures evidence-based practiceduring treatment.

Provides feedback to studentsregarding their clinical skills.

Reviews and corrects students'treatment notes.

Compiles specialized materials for outside reading assignments.

Stimulates class discussions.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Applicants should have a master's degree in speech-languagepathology.At least 3-5 years of clinical experience in the field ofspeech-language pathology is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

ASHA CCC-SLP certification and current Texas licensure inspeech language pathology are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of thisJob, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feeland talk or hear.The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sitand reach with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required toclimb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

The employee must regularly liftand/or move up to 10 pounds.

The job is sedentary in nature. Mustbe able to sit for long periods of time while performing office and computeroperations.

Must be able to stand and walk duringteaching.

Must be able to make frequent tripsacross campus to various buildings and offices.

This position is a part-time/tempadjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) with teaching load at theHardin-Simmons University campus.
