Through creative content development, public relations, marketing, social media, and digital communications efforts, it expands access to Getty content and engages both professional and public audiences.
The Getty Communications department seeks a detail-oriented and collaborative Web Content Specialist to maintain content and aid in content-migration across Getty.edu. Reporting to the Senior Producer of Web Content, this role is dedicated to updating and maintaining Getty.edu web pages, providing a positive user experience. The Web Content Specialist works to a high standard of excellence and polish, writes copy, and enters content and metadata into our content management system.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to update content for top-level landing pages utilizing Getty’s content management system
- Write, edit, and format text and microcopy according to Chicago and house style, accessibility standards, and UX writing best practices
- Ensure that appropriate metadata and accessibility standards are followed for Communications-produced web media files
- Ensure that all Trust-updated web content is accessible in compliance with WCAG 2.1
- Contribute to web standards documentation as needed
- Work with other members of the Communications web team to document and help define content-stewardship standards and processes
- Aid in periodic content audits and reporting to help digital content staff across the organization maintain website integrity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferably related to digital media production
- 5+ years of experience in media production, editorial, or content development
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skilled at organization-wide collaboration with excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to translate organizational goals, user needs, and research into actionable content strategies and plans, in complex environment
- Skilled at creating content according to brand, editorial, UX, and accessibility best practices
- Editorial experience with writing styles and best practices, preferred
- Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work tasks
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative software (Photoshop, etc.)
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and best practices
- Knowledge of Google Analytics
- Knowledge of digital software applications (Google Suite, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and markdown
