The Assistant Director of Video Production & Creative Services will create and execute all Athletic Department video/television productions. This includes production of game broadcasts, features, game atmosphere promotions, commercials and special projects.
Supervision Received
Works under the general guidance and direction of the Associate AD for Strategic Communications.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute all live broadcast productions including set-up and breakdown for all ESPN+ broadcasts.
- Ensure all productions meet ESPN requirements.
- Liaison with ESPN, conference and any other digital or linear television partners.
- Recruit, schedule and train student and contract production staff to assist with set-up/operations of equipment, including on-air talent and individuals to operate cameras, replay systems and graphics.
- Create and distribute game highlights for goseattleu.com, social media and other media outlets (television and internet), including regional and national stations.
- Assist in the production of video board shows at events in collaboration with the marketing department.
- Collaborate with communications, marketing and various other areas to develop original content for the Athletic Department including features, promotions, video board projects, commercials and other special projects that can be distributed through multiple platforms.
- Set up shoots, events and interviews, including sound, lighting, cameras and backgrounds.
- Coordinate with all departments on story ideas, staying atop of current trends, student athlete accomplishments and manage and oversee the complete video library for the Seattle U Athletics Department.
- Acquire highlights, melts or full event digital archives of televised/streamed events and oversee distribution upon media-external requests.
- Keep abreast of current trends and developments in the field. Strategically plan to meet future needs of video operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Experience in live video production, knowledge of non-linear video editing systems and knowledge of post-production software required.
- One to two years of sports video production experience preferred. Familiarity with ROSS production equipment.
- Familiarity with Sony and PTZ broadcast cameras and lenses. Familiarity with modern broadcast cabling infrastructure used in broadcast environments.
- Skill set to teach and work with students to achieve a product to the standards of ESPN+.
- Knowledge of videoboard production in a sports and entertainment facility.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including external vendors in creating a live event production.
- Knowledge in Adobe video and design software including Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop.
- Knowledge of lighting, cabling and equipment management.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to athletic and academic success.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines accordingly.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends are required.
- Compliance with the rules and regulations of Seattle University, the NCAA, Western Athletic Conference and any other governing body of importance to the University.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong technical background in video and audio engineering, live streaming support and electrical connectivity.
- Experience working in Division I college athletics department.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $26.00 - $30.00
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
