The Lincoln Journal Star is seeking a digital editor to join the best newsroom in Nebraska's capital city.
We are looking for a social media specialist with good news judgment, strong editing skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks. We also want someone who can anticipate which stories will engage readers across the breadth of our coverage - Husker sports, entertainment, lifestyle and news.
In this key position, you would:Coordinate and publish digital content on the website and craft creative social media content on other digital platformsIdentify multimedia opportunities on stories and help produce short videos, create graphics and build photo galleries to drive reader engagementUse analytics to help generate story ideas and contribute to planning news coverageWork as part of a team with other editors to determine long-term and daily content plansRecognize breaking news stories, helping edit and post them quicklyWrite engaging SEO-friendly headlines and summaries appealing to current and potential audience membersEngage with those who interact with our work on social mediaUse analytics to guide decisions and to determine strategy to attract digital readers and educate reporters and other editors on best practices
The ideal candidate will be team-oriented, strategic and creative. A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is preferred and a minimum of one year of digital journalism is required.
