Benefits Account Manager
to manage fully insured accounts and possibly level- and self-funded groups ranging from 51 to 400 lives. This role requires strong analytical skills, confidence in using MS Excel, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and carriers. The Benefits Account Manager will oversee all aspects of carrier administration and negotiations, facilitate open enrollment, and manage benefits software administration.
This is an in-office role located in Mesa, AZ, with potential for a hybrid arrangement depending on performance and culture fit. The position requires regular attendance at client meetings, so candidates must be within driving distance of the Mesa office.
Responsibilities:
Prospect and develop new business in the small and middle market (Schmiddle) segment.Manage and grow a book of business with a minimum of $350,000 in revenue.Focus on mid and large market benefits production, ensuring deals are revenue-driven, not premium-driven.Manage and negotiate deals with revenue thresholds of $10,000 or more per transaction.Foster relationships with potential clients, attend meetings, and manage the full sales cycle.Ensure the acquisition and retention of clients while meeting revenue goals.Utilize independent broker experience to navigate the market and generate new opportunities.Qualifications:
Independent agency background required (no carriers, captives, wholesale brokers).Proven track record of managing a book of business with at least $350,000 in revenue.Strong benefits production experience in mid and large markets.Minimum transaction revenue of $10,000 per deal.No job hoppers; must have a stable work history.
