The Organizational Storyteller and Content Curator, often referred to as a Communications Director in other organizations, is responsible for developing, collaborating, and implementing comprehensive branding and coordinated content across multiple platforms that will mobilize supporters to take action.This position requires demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the design and execution of strategic multi-faceted marketing and communications plans that resonate with diverse audiences, increases organization visibility, and promotes programs. Working closely with the Executive Director and Community Builders, you will implement a comprehensive strategy to integrate and reach our community, policy, and fundraising objectives. This is a full-time Director-Level position with a $60k salary. There will be some nontraditional work hours, including evenings and weekends. This is a hybrid job- some days in office, some days at home. Benefits include medical, dental & vision insurance, Unlimited PTO, hybrid remote work, and an internet stipend.Primary Responsibilities:Digital MediaManage, create, and upload original conscious content for social media, website, action alerts, and email campaigns & newsletters that aligns with ACT 4 SAs voice and styleProvide support for the ACT 4 SA team with organizational messaging, visual aids, and timely updates to social platforms that aligns with ACT 4 SAs style and voiceManage social media day-to-day activities, including by uplifting partner organizations contentManage regular basic updates to the website (updating or adding content such as press releases, job postings, creating forms, action alerts, but not designing the website itself)Press and media outreachDevelop press releases & statements, messaging documents, and media kitsSupport staff and volunteers in writing op-eds, press release and letters to the editor and sending outPitch to state and local media outletsMaintain updated media outreach listsAssisting staff with media and community inquiriesTeam supportManages other communication department staff, including interns, helping them to create weekly work plans, manage projects, and hit deadlines, as well as grow their own skills base.Design and edit collateral materials, including, but not limited to: brochures, flyers, swag, and other promotional materialsCreate a quarterly analytics report of website, emails, and social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and Twitter)Assist with event promotion, such as social media posts and event emails, and provide real-time technical and logistical support for eventsVideo editing as neededCollaborate with the team to create and maintain a communications content calendar with key dates relating to events, content/stories, current events, etcKeeping regular management on the comms infrastructure. Updating as needed..Community Engagement:Engage in ongoing professional development and trainingParticipate in weekly staff meetings and other opportunities to engage with ACT 4 SA staff and volunteersSome local travel for organizational events, meetings, or other organizational needsQualifications and Competencies:NeedsYou must be located in San Antonio, TXMinimum 3+ years experience in a graphic design, marketing, or communications positionExperience writing and pitching op-eds and rapid response communicationExperience in working on CanvaStrong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write in different styles and for a variety of audiencesAbility to develop an effective work plan, organize details, set priorities, and meet deadlinesSelf-motivated, resourceful, creative, and able to work without significant day-to-day supervisionFirm grasp of personal boundaries & capacities; ability to communicate challenges and the type of support you need to thrive.Experience using graphic design tools, social media scheduling platforms, email marketing programs, and website managementCommitment to creating content that utilizes lenses of intersectionality, accessibility, non- gendered language, etc.Previous experience in managing a person or people on a teamStrong organizational skillsCan manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and detailsAbility to move quickly with rapid response press and social media workThorough knowledge of the fundamentals of digital design and user experience, with the ability to produce results that are professional, clear, and compelling.Willingness to learn, grow, and push forward the ACT 4 SA culture.Knowledge of media outlets, including mainstream and alternative publicationsA high degree of discretion, dealing with confidential and sensitive information with integritySome experience in creating fundraising emails and social media assetsAwareness of the criminal justice system and the over-policing & mass incarceration of our communityWantsSome knowledge of San Antonio and the political landscapeExperience in preparing individuals for interviews and etcBilingual in both Spanish and English or other languagesCultivated relationships with earned media and journalistsActive on a variety of online platforms; in the know on social media trends, hashtags, memes, etcSense of humor and cultural relevant knowledge
