We are seeking a full-time Senior Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) Designer

for our Olathe, KS or Portland, OR location. In this role, you will be responsible for forecasting, developing and implementing color, material, and finish plans for a wide array of consumer products, with ownership of projects that have a higher-than-average level of difficulty, complexity, for which few precedents exist.Essential FunctionsWork collaboratively and professionally with fellow CMF Designers, CMF Engineers, Industrial Designers, Mechanical Engineers and Product Managers to achieve team-based goals and superior results on projectsLead development/implementation of CMF solutions across a wide array of consumer productsIdentify and strategize the need for new/refreshed color palettes and create digital/physical presentation materials that communicate CMF design strategiesPresent and communicate CMF strategies to development teams, product managers, sales managers, segment leaders and executive teamResearch and analyze data from trend services to identify shifts in fashion, lifestyle and color that could guide segment-based decisions for Garmin’s product marketsDirect a team of prototype specialists to create color and material targetsOwn the color & finish matching process with manufacturing and material suppliersInitiate discussions with material engineers/team members in Asia to research new materials and finishesCommunicate status of work by clearly providing visibility to supervisor and accepts/acts on constructive feedback from coworkers to refine designs and concepts to produce better solutionsMentor less experienced CMF designersBasic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or Master’s Degree in CMF Design

AND

a minimum of 4 years work experience as a CMF Designer or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Must demonstrate knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to use tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and KeyshotDemonstrates proficient knowledge of a wide variety of materials and manufacturing methods including, but not limited to: plastic, silicone, metals, coatings, and moreDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills including proficient presentation skillsMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work respectfully with othersDemonstrated ability to autonomously generate and support pragmatic solutions that meet project timelines and high-quality standardsDesired QualificationsOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
