WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Marketing Intern will assist in the marketing and promotion of the Uncork Texas Wines and/or GO TEXAN campaigns to promote all Texas agricultural products, including Texas food, beverage, apparel, home furnishings, plants and livestock, to consumers, as well as industry buyers. You will work under close supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with drafting social media stories, posts, or other promotions.
Assist in the planning and implementation of special events.
Research potential GO TEXAN businesses and develop a recruitment list.
Represent the agency in booths at events such as livestock shows, rodeos and other festivals.
Complete independent and various projects under the direction of the Marketing staff
Follow all TDA policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
An intern funded through the Federal-State Marketing Improvement Program (FSMIP) will be focused on the GO TEXAN Program with primary responsibilities that include assisting with in-store retail demonstrations and educational outreach; data collection and analysis; and reporting.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Enrollment in a college, university, or graduate program or a recent graduate with a minimum grade point average of 3.0* and major coursework in Marketing, Public Administration, Agriculture or related field.
Completion of at least 60 credit hours.*
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with diverse stakeholders and managing competing interests.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of office procedures; of spelling, punctuation and grammar; and of business or program terminology, methods, and procedures.
Skill in the use of a computer and office equipment; and providing customer service excellence to both internal and external customers.
Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; to transfer stock from one location to another; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office work environment and may have exposure to dust and environmental allergens consistent with normal business activities and human contact. Mostly sedentary in nature but may involve walking; standing; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping and bending; performing tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Must be able work extended periods at a computer and may require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed. May be required to travel, which will include overnight. May involve travel (up to
5%* ), occasionally overnight.
TELEWORK & WORK HOURS
TDA has a telework policy that will allow eligible positions to telework up to two ( 2 ) days per week after completing six (6) months of employment with the agency. The employee must meet eligibility criteria set forth in the Telework Policy. As an intern, you will
not
meet the requirement for teleworking under TDA policy.
