The Internal Communications Manager for Driscoll's of the Americas (DOTA) strives to keep all DOTA employees deeply connected, engaged, and aligned with the Mission, Values, and Vision of the company, the current business priorities, and the Driscoll's brand.
This role represents a center of expertise around communication effectiveness for DOTA, working directly with the DOTA leadership team, managers, and other internal stakeholders to enhance overall change and communication effectiveness. This position will be responsible for mastering internal communications strategic advisory for our Enterprise (Driscoll's + its independent growers) communications. Additionally, this position leverages strategy execution through the internal communications publication and translation strategy in connection with Global Internal Communications.
The person in this role will demonstrate a strategic mindset and the ability to lead a team, to manage with discipline the execution and planning of the DOTA strategy, delivering results with excellence. The person in this position must be an excellent communicator and strong writer - with the ability to keep complex things simple.
Responsibilities
• Design and implement internal communications strategies that support our DOTA teams, ensuring alignment with our Mission, Vision, Values and our broader organizational goals• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, gaining their trust and buy-in to develop and execute communications plans that drive engagement across diverse employee groups• Responsible for managing activities in collaboration with DOTA Communications Team members and Global Internal Comms Manager to execute communication strategy in alignment with Employee Engagement goals• Craft compelling written, visual, and multimedia content, from executive messaging to program narratives, organizational announcements, employee features, and customer stories, ensuring alignment with corporate goals• Manage translation requests with discipline along the Translation Strategy• Recruit, onboard, and coach staff to ensure robust learning and career development consistent with the Company's values and rapidly globalizing profile• Efficiently manage and develop direct reports to ensure that communication processes are agile and effectively reach Driscoll's diverse audiences through appropriate communication channels• Partner closely with teams across DOTA (marketing, public affairs, supply chain, operations, etc.) to proactively plan and execute employee and grower-facing communications, and to ensure cohesive communication strategies that support shared business objectives• Actively build and reinforce global relationships and collaboration. Seek to understand global/local/regional differences, needs, cultures, languages, and processes to optimize internal communication effectiveness• Continuously measure the effectiveness of communications strategies, using data-driven insights to refine approaches and demonstrate impact on business goals• Manage relations with partner agencies and vendors• Participate in Global Internal Communications monthly meetings happening at different time zones• Business travel will be 30 - 35%. A valid passport and the ability to travel domestic and internationally without restrictions• This position requires on-site work in our Watsonville, CA offices four days a week, with Friday as an optional remote day
Candidate Profile
Requirements• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field required• 10+ years professional experience• English native with fluency in Spanish required• Fluency (written and verbal) and ability to proofread in Spanish and English is required• An exceptional communicator (both written and verbal) who has a passion and talent for storytelling and who can utilize this skill to drive employee engagement• Excellent project management skills with an ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines• Demonstrated experience working with an executive team on both internal communication programs and the management of ad-hoc, short lead-time projects• Excellent journalistic/information gathering and storytelling skills• The right mix of technical knowledge, writing skills, web skills, multimedia skills, and creativity to deliver content, manage communication initiatives, deliver documentation and training in the format best suited for various audiences• 5+ years' experience managing people
Preferred Qualifications• Change Management Certification a plus• Experience with audio/video editing tools and streaming video technologies a plus• Great interpersonal skills with the ability to work across and up and down within a global matrix organization effectively• A collaborative problem solver who enjoys working in a highly collaborative, team environment• An ability to work with a high degree of emotional intelligence, navigating individual and team conflicts productively, with empathy and integrity, and contributing constructively to overall organizational advancement and culture
Compensation & Benefits:The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the salary range and benefits for the position posted. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.
Salary Range estimated for the Internal Communications Manager: $100,600.00 to $135,900.00 USD.
