Your work with and support of Alabama’s AP Social Studies teachers will positively impact teachers and students in this state. You will have the opportunity to help change the trajectory of education in the state of Alabama.

Your work will strengthen the A+ College Ready team. As you work with your fellow AP Content Directors, Content Specialists, non-AP Social Studies Content Director, and the team as a whole, your skills, knowledge, and insight will enrich our team. Your work will result in students who are better prepared for college, for career, and for life. Your leadership in the creation of high-quality curricular materials for AP Social Studies will help teachers and students in Alabama achieve academic success.

Your planning and implementation of exemplary training events for AP Social Studies teachers including the AP Summer Intensives, AP Fall Workshop, and AP Mock Exam Readings, will empower these professionals to return to their classrooms with new instructional strategies, deeper content knowledge, and a renewed passion for helping every student succeed.

Your collaboration with the non-AP Social Studies content director will assure a seamless alignment for social studies education from grades 6 - 12 and training experiences, while your collaboration with your AP Content Director colleagues will ensure common expectations and experiences across all AP content areas.

Your commitment to continuous learning and data analysis will model what you expect from the teachers that you serve and will allow those you lead to always have access to the most recent research-based practices in social studies education.

The personal relationships that you foster with teachers in our state will be life-changing for them and for you. Your impact on teachers will continue long after the grant program years are over. This impact is our greatest legacy.

What We're Looking For

A deep belief in A+ Education Partnership’s mission, A+ College Ready's approach, and the potential of every child

Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)

Experience and success in the Advanced Placement Social Studies classroom

Excellent people skills

A life-long learner and active listener with strong communication skills

A commitment to excellence

A team player who works productively and cooperatively with a wide range of people

A self-starter with problem-solving skills and analytical capability

Comfortable with the use of technology, including the following applications: Google Suite, Canvas, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Travel:

This position requires travel, sometimes overnight and sometimes multiple nights in a row. Candidates must have reliable transportation. A+ College Ready reimburses all travel expenses.

Location:

A+ College Ready has two offices: one located in downtown Montgomery and one in downtown Birmingham. The AP Social Studies Content Director will report to one of these two offices depending on his/her home location.

Salary and Benefits

A competitive salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and educational attainment.

Blue Cross Blue Shield health, dental, & vision insurance is provided for employees (family coverage available at a cost)

Two weeks paid vacation in the first year (prorated from start date to calendar year-end); three weeks paid vacation beginning year two

Additional company-wide vacation week between Christmas and New Year’s

Funded participation in company retirement plan after one year

$100,000 company-funded life insurance and long-term disability insurance

$50 cell phone reimbursement monthly

NOTE: A+ College Ready is not a member of the Alabama Teachers’ Retirement System.
