NewsNation is looking for a Segment Producer to join the network and work on the daily political program The Hill. The Segment Producer is responsible for contributing story ideas, compiling elements, and crafting stories and segments on a variety of topics centering on political news, domestic news and international news. The Segment Producer works with the show leadership team to help accurately and truthfully relay stories and make them part of engaging and insightful broadcasts. The position is based at the network's offices in Washington, DC.

Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sourcesSelect strongest possible elements to help best tell storiesWrite clear, compelling and strong editorial copyAssist in preparing and executing live, compelling television newscastsKeep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of storiesPerform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadershipRequirements & Skills:
BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related fieldFive or more years’ experience in national or major-market newsExperience and background in producing political news is strongly preferredMust be detail-oriented and have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye towards grammarMust exhibit strong news judgmentMust have strong broadcast writing skillsMust be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work well with a diverse group of peopleMust interact well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staffMust be able to handle stress, including short deadlinesMust be able to work at a computer for extended periods of timeMust be able to work assigned shifts including holidays as neededSalary Range: $75,000 - $90,000
