JOB SUMMARY
Leads and oversees the design process to ensure that design objectives are met on time, within budget, and in compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements. This position shall act as a liaison for the contractor balancing creativity with practicality, ensuring every aspect of the design process runs smoothly with the design consultant. Manages relationships with Owner, Engineer(s), JV Partners, and internal teams.
FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

satisfactorily.Manage the design consultant(s) and design contract(s) conceptual design through final construction documents, ensuring alignment with the owners contract, the design sub-contract, project scope, budget, and schedule.Facilitate collaboration between the design and construction team(s), ensuring design feasibility constructability.Assists with negotiating and drafting the design Teaming Agreement and Design Service Agreement.Manage the design build process, ensuring seamless communication between design teams and construction management.Reviews and evaluates design drawings for alternative build pursuits or active projects to ensure feasible constructability, cost efficiency and design optimization.Implement risk management strategies to identify and address potential design-related issues, such as constructability concerns, compliance risks, or coordination challenges.Works closely with external design firm, internal construction, estimating and engineering teams during project construction and pursuits to identify design risks and optimization opportunities.Tracks and identifies scope variances and seeks solutions to minimize impacts of scope growth and maximize opportunities for scope savings.Recommends, tracks and documents contract change orders regarding the construction design to ensure accurate and complicate project controls.Assists the project management team in identifying out of scope change requests from the owner that arise during design development and works to eliminate these changes or assist the project management team in change order development related to these changes.Submits design progress and cost reporting to project management team throughout the life the project to guarantee united understanding of project and budget status. Provides input on material quantities and design strategies to lower project cost and mitigate risks.Ensures accurate, complete and timely submission of all design packages, and coordinates split packages, so construction schedule continues without delays. Design package responsibility includes tracking the permits and public information sessions required of the external design firm. Attends public information sessions, as needed.Attends and participates in technical reviews and design presentations with project Owner to ensure design comprehension and assist with change order approvals.Submits monthly project status reporting to design and operations leadership in a timeline and accurate manner.Maintains knowledge of the Company's values and strategic plan.Performs additional assignments per management's direction.Supervisory: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.10+ years' experience in construction industry, design engineering, estimating or related experience required.5+ years' experience dedicated to design management or design engineering experience.Experience managing the construction design team or the design firm.Experience working with alternative design pursuits (Design Build, Progressive Design Build, P3, etc.) required.Experience driving construction pursuits preferred.Experience working with Procore, Primavera P6, AutoCAD and Bluebeam preferred.Experience working with ROW, Utilities, and Specialty subs preferred.Certifications and/or Licensing Requirements
Professional Engineering License (PE/PENG) preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Strong knowledge of construction engineering principles and regulatory codes required.Strong multi-tasking and time management skills required.Expert personal time management and scheduling abilities.Proven ability to influence with or without authority for the betterment of the project construction or cost controls.Ability to manage design subcontractors.Ability to assist with alternative delivery pursuits.Proven knowledge of design drawings and strong ability to interpret the construction story told by what is on or missing from a design plan.Proven ability to identify constructability, cost or schedule risks from alternative design drawings required.Proven technical innovation tactics that benefit cost and risk reductions for overall performance.Strong financial acumen and forecasting analysis ability.Developed ability to identify strengths and opportunity areas in direct reports.
