BLUE ORIGIN, Seattle, Washington, us, 98127
Please ensure you read the below overview and requirements for this employment opportunity completely. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on development, manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems to address one of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be responsible for leading the engineering efforts of the Optical Module subsystem of an advanced lasercom optical communications terminal. The Optical Module consists of a telescope, gimbal, and optical bench assembly. This role requires an individual who can navigate technical complexities and guide a multi-disciplinary team through the development and large-scale production of cutting-edge free-space optical communication technologies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the development of an Optical Module subsystem, aligning with the overall system performance, integration, and project objectives.
Manage the payload internal and external interfaces to ensure compatibility with host spacecraft and effective system performance in space.
Collaborate with Production, Assembly, Integration, and Test teams.
Define and manage technical requirements and overall Optical Module design.
Conduct and supervise flight qualification approach.
