Overview: Talbert, Bright & Ellington, Inc. (TBE) is a full-service, professional aviation engineering firm focused on the planning, design, and construction management for airports in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, for over 28 years, TBE employs more than 45 professionals. TBE is seeking a Design Technician (Aviation) to assist in the design of specific airport-related projects. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in the design of airside and landside aviation projects, including airfield and roadway geometrics, paving, grading, drainage, and/or utility design. The position will be responsible for performing design duties, including developing design plans, developing technical specifications, and bid estimates. Work is typically done in teams, with extensive coordination both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
· Assist the Design Engineer and Design Team in the design of runways, taxiways, aprons, and other airfield facilities. Work typically involves grading, paving, drainage, and other civil engineering-related work.
· Assist with planning documents and construction cost estimates, and perform computer-aided design.
· Assist in the preparation of technical reports, calculations, project drawings, details, and specifications.
· Assist in the review of construction shop drawings and construction site visits.
· Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned with growing levels of responsibility.
Qualifications:
· Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
· 0-4 years of experience with good background in civil engineering principles.
· Growing proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Produce organized, accurate, and professional work products.
· Ability to work independently and in small groups.
· Ability to manage, prioritize, and meet schedule requirements for multiple projects/tasks.
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is negotiable. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
