McREL provides competitive compensation, benefits, and a flexible hybrid work environment. The wage for this position is $70,000 – $95,000/ANNUALLY, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Information Technology (IT) Project Manager will plan, establish, and manage information technology projects and will serve as a liaison between the business and technical aspects of McREL’s IT projects, including ongoing data security and external audit reviews. This position is also responsible for the oversight of McREL’s IT vendor, including the performance standards and ensuring that day-to-day staff IT needs are met.

As the IT Project Manager, you will make an impact by:

Managing the relationship between our IT Partner and McREL, ensuring they are meeting service level agreements (SLA) and providing efficient service to McREL staff.

Working with the IT Vendor to prepare offices and/or equipment for new employees and orient staffers to general information technology procedures.

Managing assigned IT projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope of project.

Developing, maintaining, and revising proposals for assigned projects including project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, timelines, funding, and staffing.

Setting and tracking project milestones, establishing and implementing project communication plans, and managing and accounting for unforeseen delays.

Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends as needed to prepare project status reports.

Possessing a thorough understanding of all aspects of McREL’s computer and network security, including firewall administration, malware protection, encryption technologies, multifactor authentication, data redundancy and backup processes, and network protocols.

Possessing a thorough understanding of McREL’s projects’ data security requirements and contractual obligations.

Possessing a thorough understanding of relevant U.S. (federal and state) and international data protection and management regulations, standards, and laws.

Coordinating annual security audits, risk assessments and analysis utilizing an external firm, including the selection process of said firm.

Formulating security policies and procedures for the organization and updating them as appropriate to keep them aligned to best practices and any relevant statutory, regulatory, or contractual changes.

Making decisions, performing, and encouraging others to act in a manner which is congruent with organizational goals, strategy, vision, mission, and values.

Modeling and championing corporate policies, procedures, and processes.

Conducting ongoing needs sensing with McREL staff to ensure that IT needs are being met and recommending changes as appropriate.

Performing other duties as assigned.

Thorough understanding of U.S. federal government data protection and management regulations for controlled unclassified information (such as NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-172, NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1, and associated FIPS) and student PII (FERPA), as well as state-level data protection laws (such as the CCPA).

Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization and the industry.

Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, IT and data security best practices for remote work (particularly for remote locations within the Pacific region).

Proficient with managing computer networks comprising devices using multiple operating systems including but not limited to Windows 10 and 11, Windows Server, macOS, Ubuntu, Synology DSM, and RHEL Server.

Ability to motivate groups of people to complete a project in a timely manner.

Ability to work both independently and as a team member in a positive and collaborative manner.

Ability to receive growth-oriented feedback in a positive, constructive manner and apply changes to future work.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Information Science-related field required.

3+ years of IT project management experience OR a combination of degree and experience.

Experience in building and managing budgets through project management software.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Extensive project management skills including the ability to maintain and plan a portfolio.

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

TRAVEL:

This position requires minimal domestic travel (0% to 10%).
