40 hours per week, with potential for extended hours as needed to support the program schedule.Travel Requirements:Frequency: 2-3 times per month in Central Long Island; occasional travel to North or South Long Island as neededAvailability: Must be local or within a reasonable commuting distance due to regular travel requirementsOverview:We are looking for an experienced data center architect/designer to support the design and optimization of large data centers. This role focuses on the physical layout of data center infrastructure-racks, cabinets, cooling systems, and electrical equipment placement. The candidate must bring a comprehensive understanding of data center design from a system architecture perspective and be comfortable working independently as a hands-on subject matter expert (SME).Key Responsibilities:Design data center infrastructure layouts, including rack and cabinet placement and equipment integration, to optimize cooling and power distribution.Conduct redesigns of existing data centers as needed to accommodate additional equipment.Collaborate with engineering teams to assess power and cooling requirements based on the types of equipment being installed (telecommunication, computing, and other electronic devices).Develop and refine AutoCAD and Visio designs for comprehensive data center layouts.Ensure adherence to industry standards for data center power, cooling, and infrastructure requirements.Travel as necessary to client sites within Long Island to conduct site assessments and oversee design implementations.Qualifications:10+ years of experience in Data Center Architecture/Design with a strong emphasis on physical infrastructure layout and optimization.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field); additional background in Mechanical/Electronics Engineering is preferred.Proven experience with AutoCAD and Visio for data center design and infrastructure planning.Strong understanding of cooling, power distribution, and rack/cabinet design in data centers.Hands-on experience in the design and layout of data centers, including systems and equipment placement.Ability to work as an individual contributor without managerial duties, focusing entirely on design and implementation.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think holistically about data center design.Preferred Experience:Senior-level experience in data center design with a holistic understanding of all aspects of data center infrastructure.Additional Requirements:Ability to work 75% remotely and 25% onsite in Long Island, NY.Must be available for potential extended hours to meet project deadlines and support program schedules.Willingness to travel within the client's Long Island territory as required.If you believe you are in the job market or interested in making a change, please email me the resume along with contact details on jay@ or give me a call at 201-604-2973.
