Who You Are::

The Broadcast Field Operations Director serves as the hands-on lead and team champion for the station field staff. They ensure that all stations operate within the necessary technical parameters as well as motivate the field staff while promoting the companies culture and vision. Possess thorough knowledge of FCC rules and regulations related to television broadcasting compliance.



What You'll Do::
  • Take lead in managing and maintaining all broadcast and technology related equipment including but not limited to transmitter, satellite downlink and microwave transmission systems
  • Motivate and manage a staff of professional engineers and technicians with an eye on supporting the companies culture and vision
  • Ability to be a hands-on role model with the willingness to lead by example and mentor supporting staff members
  • Possess thorough knowledge of FCC rules and regulations related to television broadcasting compliance
  • Provide and implement solid troubleshooting solutions, both independently and as a part of a diverse team, in time-sensitive and at times high-pressure situations
  • Implement and support fellow engineers (remotely, virtually and in person) with technical solutions
  • Effectively present information and respond to management, clients and viewers in a timely manner
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • The possibility of unexpected and/or late-night calls for engineering-emergencies at the station(s)
  • Work with related departments; in the determination of current and future needs; in the preparation and tracking of capital, expense, repair and maintenance budgets
  • Have a successful history of project management and leadership, empowering staff to carry-out projects while supporting the positive culture of the company
  • Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work on rooftops and in confined spaces

Other Helpful Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders (including the ability to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone and in virtual environments)
  • Aptitude to use specialized equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, VNAs, Signal Strength Meters, ETC
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including able to work multiple days, holidays, evenings, weekends, as needed
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Availability to travel over multiple days is essential


What You Bring::

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Thrives in being a leader in an environment where teams rely on strong independent work and contributions
  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Communications, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred
  • At least 9 years broadcast experience preferred. However, a successful track record in aligned industries will be considered.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of electronic, electrical, mechanical and information systems
  • Have expert level understanding of the general operation of a television station.
  • Proactive, dynamic, flexible, self-starter with a positive attitude who is able to learn new systems or equipment on their own
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
