Job Summary:

The Director of Content & Communications is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development and execution of all content, social media, PR and Influencer related initiatives within the portfolio of Beautynova Americas brands, milk_shake, DEPOT, & Medavita. This role will work closely with the VP of Marketing to create strategies that align with the company’s overall objectives and ensure the successful implementation of programs between agencies and in house team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive strategy, planning and execution of our content and social media direction, aligning with product launches and brand initiatives through content storytelling, ensuring a consistent brand message across platforms to drive brand awareness and engagement.
  • Create and implement processes to streamline advanced planning to allow for thoughtful content creation. Follow a core methodology of “create once, re-use everywhere”. Repurpose the content into cuts & formats needed for social channel, email, website, etc.
  • Oversee content calendar and strategy to align with DTC/DTP and marketing calendars, product and brand launches, events, activations and other brand initiatives that require social media & digital integration.
  • Define brand direction and set clear guidelines for voice, tone and messaging.
  • Provide guidance to content contributors to deliver content on message on brand and on time. Inform content direction utilizing testing, search engine optimization, content trends and consumer behavior to influence content direction.
  • Drive content and asset development (strategy, brief and delivery) across all touchpoints including earned, paid media, email, social media and owned and partner website and marketplaces.
  • Conceptualize and implement strong, forward thinking, 360-degree brand relevant PR and talent strategies to drive business growth, build brand equity, generate consistent brand exposure, and optimize storytelling.
  • Establish and build strong connections with various vendors, retailers, publishers, press, stylists, collectors, and key opinion leaders.
  • Drive and execute superior editorial coverage, for both consumer and professional industry outlets.
  • Develop and manage execution of clear and measurable PR plans for all brands with external PR agencies.
  • Evaluate agency performance regularly, giving constructive input to ensure alignment with brand objectives.
  • Own timeline and communication plans for all PR efforts including product launches, company announcements, talent announcements, etc.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive influencer marketing strategies to drive demand and build brand awareness.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with influencers, celebrity stylists, and stylists to promote the brand and key seasonal designs. Develop and oversee talent and advocacy strategy and execution, including tiered organic and paid (fees + gifting) relationships, utilizing data to make informed recommendations.
  • Oversee influencer campaign execution from start to finish, ensuring seamless communication, content alignment, and successful delivery.
  • Oversee the budget, financial planning and resource allocation within the scope of the role.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage budgets, and ensure timely payments.
  • Provide investment recommendations based on business goals, and how we can make dollars work as hard as possible.
  • Provide weekly and monthly KPI reports for leadership team.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members in their professional growth and career development.
  • Evaluate internal agencies and platforms to ensure they are the right fit for the needs of the brands and organization.
  • Any other assignments, projects, duties or tasks as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, social media marketing, or a related field with a focus on beauty or hair care brands.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of management experience.
  • Proven track record of running successful social media, influencer campaigns & partnership and fostering communities.
  • Highly creative with the ability to develop new ideas that resonate with audiences.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence key stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with a hands-on approach and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with agencies and managing external partners.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity of current technology, trends and best practices in communications, content development, and influencer marketing.
  • Experience with Tribe Dynamics / Creator IQ, Launchmetrics, and Dash Hudson or similar platforms.
  • Skilled in handling budgets for agency fees, influencer partnerships, and PR activities to ensure cost-effectiveness and return on investment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Hybrid work environment with a combination of in-office and remote work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
  • Walking between different departments when in the office.
  • Occasional travel for sales trips, educational flights, or collaboration with marketing teams at other locations.
  • Adaptability to different working environments, including interactions with remote teams and account partners across various time zones.
  • Potential for Domestic and international travel to industry events, tradeshows, and customer locations up to 10%+ of time.
